The answer to your question is yes. This is normal. My horse trots and paces when moving freely, but under saddle she does a running walk. As long as you do not allow your horse to trot under saddle it is fine if your horse trots when doing groundwork.

is it ok for a gaited horse to trot in the round pen win doing ground work she has never gaited win in the paster or in the round pen just win i ride she racks
