just for you aurora!!!!!

I really can’t stay (Baby, it’s cold outside)
I’ve got to go ‘way (Baby, it’s cold outside)
The evening has been (I’ve been hopin’ that you’d drop in)
So very nice (I’ll hold your hand, they’re just like ice)

My mother will start to worry (Hey beautiful, what’s your hurry)
And father will be pacing the floor (Listen to that fireplace roar)
So really, I’d better scurry (Beautiful, please don’t hurry)
Well, maybe just a half a drink more (Put some music on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (Baby, it’s bad out there)
Say, what’s in this drink (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I’ll take your hat, your hair looks swell)

I oughtta say no, no, no sir (You mind if I move in closer)
At least I’m gonna say that I tried (And what’s the sense in hurting my pride)
I really can’t stay (Oh baby, don’t hold out)
Oh, but it’s cold outside

I simply must go (It’s cold outside)
The answer is no (Baby, it’s cold outside)
The welcome has been (So lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)

My sister will be suspicious (Your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (I ain’t worried about you brother)
My maiden aunt’s mind is vicious (That ol’ biddy, she ain’t gonna bother me)
Well maybe just a cigarette more (You don’t need no cigarette, it’s smokin’ plenty up in here)

I’ve got to get home (Baby, you’ll freeze out there)
Say, lend me a comb (It’s up to your knees out there)
You’ve really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand)
Oh, but don’t you see (How can you do this thing to me)

There’s bound to be talk tomorrow (Well, think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died)
I really can’t stay (Get over that hold out)
Oh, but baby it’s cold outside

Doris Day and Bing Crosby

Hurley, I was rereading the title of the post.  It sounds like one of my fav. x-mas songs (can't remember the name now, it had different singers).

"Baby, it's cold outside.... I've got to get away... my mother will start to worry... oh but it's cold outside"

Maybe Bing Crosby? And some woman (it's a duo) hmmm...

Being under that canopy of geese was a concern of mine also.  Surprisingly enough, we have never been bombarded by goose bombs.  We're friendly peace keepers up here in Canada, we don't drop bombs on anyone, and neither do our geese!

A bunch of geese live here year round.  I see how much they leave on the ground, so it's the very FIRST thing I think about!   It may be a good thing in a field needing fertilized.  Around a park or pond, yuck city.  I'll take the S@#%.

l1   I had some Canadian Geese stop over near my house as well.  I hadn't thought about you being such a target underneith them though.  LOL.  Wear a wide-brimmed hat!

When I was in High School at soccer practice, a flock of something flew over us and I swear every single one of us got crapped on!  It was funny and gross and funny.   rl1

tangoh, perhaps it is some of your geese that arrive here in Arkansas around Thanksgiving or before.   They come in huge flocks and land in the harvested rice and soy bean fields near my house. They cover acres and acres!

It is the most incredible thing and the honking is deafening, you can hear it 2 miles away!  they stay just a few days and then leave.

I've heard just a few flying over lately at night, just a gentle honk, honk and then they are gone.  But is a sure sign of the Fall!

Glad everyone is having better weather!

I have to laugh at that too because that's what I watch come in every night as I put the horses in, a nice canopy of geese and thats always crossed my mind. l1  We're in the 40's too, ice on the buckets this morning, I think I'm gonna get my tank heater all set up and ready to go this weekend.  One more weekend time goes back an hour and I become a weekend warrior for 6 months. I'll be leaving for work in the dark and coming home in the dark. I'll only see sun on the weekends.  BLAH :(:(:(!!!!!!

Next Chapter :  Ugh....snow WILL arrive, it is inevitalbe....
It all sounded so wonderful right up to this point.  It's just hard to imagine not being the target that's hit under this canopy that was just previously feasting on grain.  Ughhhh.

Sorry about that.  In Florida the "S" word is Sand, or Sun, or Snake, or Sweltering, or Steamy,..

l1  I had to re-read the post.  I thought the "S" word was "Snow".  Oh yeah,.. that WAS the "S" word.

Well, I have to brag...just a bit.  I'm allowed, I'm a Canadian and our weather usually SUCKS for six months of every year.  However, THIS autumn has been spectacular.  We are usually covered in a blanket of that nasty white stuff whose name I refuse to utter for fear that I will 'will' the 's' word into happening!  We are having one of the nicest falls on record here.  Temps have been up around 60 - 65 F., the grass is still green, and the leaves that are still around are brilliant hues of red, yellow, orange and purple.  The horses are happy.  There are no bugs, there is still plenty grass to graze, their coats are thick to keep them warm on frosty nights and the sun is warm during the day.

So, picture this...crops are off, the stubble fields are brilliant yellow, the sky is as blue as can be, the sun is shining bright, the fields are literally covered in snow geese eating the grain that the harvest has left behind before they head south.  The air is warm..yet cool, you can feel the heat of the sun on your back but you can feel the nip of fall air on your nose.

You are at a slow loose reined lope on your favorite horse, your dog at your side, you're headed straight towards what is literally thousands of geese softly 'honking' in the distance as they pick at the left over grain.  As you lope closer they suddenly and uniformly lift off, their soft 'honking' becomes agitated and more aggressively loud, so loud in fact you can't hear your horses hooves loping through the stubble any longer.   The sound is incredible.  The sight of this is even more spectacular.  You feel so incredibly free and alive as your horse's pulse increases and his lope turns into a full out gallop under a canopy of thousands of geese.   There is no greater feeling.

This is Autumn in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Next Chapter :  Ugh....snow WILL arrive, it is inevitalbe....
