There is also The Curly Horse. Many of them are "gaited".

"Gaited" horse refers to a horse that possess the predilection to perform one of the "intermediate" gaits, rather than just walk-trot-canter. You can read excellent descriptions of them linked from the homepage. The intermediate gaits are usually very smooth to ride, like the running walk, foxtrot, rack, etc.

"I looked at her picture & I thought gaited horse..."

I did a little research....Cali does have curly hair...is it possible she could be a cross with a Fox Trotter? I read where some of them have curly hair?

Lovewe1,

I missed having horses...I havent had any since I broke my back 4 years ago. I was going to purchase a horse for my daughter...they told me he was "dead broke". Which I never believe till I ride the horse myself...anyway he rode very well in the round pen...they told me to take him out on the trail...not to long after that he threw me...reared up and stomped my back three times. He broke my back...hip...and my tail bone.

When the owner finally made it to where I was...he informed me that he had never ridden the horse out of the round pen before.

I was in a wheel chair for 3 months....with four kids....it was a very LONG 3 months...

Debbie,

I still dont understand what is ment by gaited...lol....are certain breeds naturally gaited? Or is something any breed can "learn" or be "taught". When you said Cali looked like a gaited horse...what breed would that be?

Sorry for all the questions....

Gotta find the map to see where Eastman, GA is located. Either way, if your mare is gaited...icing on the cake?!?

Hey Debbie...

We are in Eastman,Ga.

The guy we bought Cali from said she was a quarter paint...he said you can see a little paint in her stockings (they are white with white spots). She was bred to a black and white paint...but her baby popped out looking identical to her mom!

But...I cannot say for a 100% about her pedigree b/c she is not papered. I only have to go by what the guy said that had her.

Hello! Another person from GA, YIPPEE!! Where are you in our great state? I would love for you to tag into our GA Tator - I think he would be of great help...Maybe others if you border their states, too.

Are you sure you know the breeding of your mare. I looked at her picture & I thought gaited horse...

So...you may even want to look into the Imus line of tack. I love their saddle, but the bit may really be a good thing for her?

Welcome aboard & looking forward to even more pictures...even a video?

Hey Cali welcome aboard.  You will love it here, everyone is friendly and very helpful.

I read your post about moving from Fairbanks to GA, wow talk about a change in climate!

I'm glad to hear you have a new horse, good for you.   Your story brought a tear to my eye.  I had to sell my horse when I moved here, and I felt the same way.

Good luck with your new horse!  :)
