Hi everyone,
Sorry I have not jumped in here to answer the questions, and explain why we have the map.

I was not trying to be "curt" in any way! Messageboards are hard to reflect a mood. We cannot use smilies in forum titles.::)

Every post a member makes, takes up server space, which = $$$, especially with thousands and thousands of posts including photo posting. We were literally getting hundreds of posts about "anyone from", and it was congesting the board, as well as eating valueable server space. So to keep it free, we must enable certain rules. Some members choose to not show location, so I'm guessing they won't reply in a public post where they are from:). Notice the smilies!

As far as old posts being gone... We had to "prune" old topics that had not been read or replied to since xxx days ago. We have to do housecleaning to keep this service free.

I hope this helps everyone!

r1
Zack

there.

ps. I changed the forum title to be more friendly too!

Hey. I said I was sorry. and
I couldn't help it!  It really is funny sometimes to react more to the sentence structure or language conventions than to the content.  Believe me. I think I spent too much time reading essays at one point in my life!  I worked at an inner city school though
and in some ways I think the students influenced me more than the other way around.

 In the spirit of fun:

l1 Sorry. I couldn't help myself either! l1 Judge not lest ye be judged.

l1 Only and English teacher would 'intellectualize' the text. I once got a message intercepted(by my English teacher) in 6th grade for writing a profane word in a sentence on a piece of paper. She was more upset about my sentence structure than she was the single profane word in the sentence...lol!

Hi Sylvia,
Yes, you make an excellent point, and it is so obvious and of course I missed it! I'm sure during the shuffle some things did get 'put out to pasture'..lol
I forgot what a huge thing it is to change servers, so if anything got deleted, it's no wonder!
I AM thankful that the message board is back up, and nice to see everyone back here and active again.

Not only did it seem 'curt' (which I don't mind if it is or not, the board owners can do whatever they want), but they also deleted some topics.

So, what is the allowed Subject line here now? We need to know so that our posts are not deleted.

If we are not allowed to ask if people are in a particular area of each state,. what is the point of having the -Meet gaited horse people in your STATE- section?

Happy Trails!

I, too, saw it as somewhat curt but after reading it again I sort of reinterpreted it as,

"Gee!!!  Looky here at what we've got now!  You can see who lives near you w/out having to wait for them to reply on a thread!!!!  See?"

Anyway, that was my re-interpetation.  :)  sylvia

I thought his first name was Twas! Twas I Zachary! It's Curt??

Yeah I think he meant to say you don't have to ask "Any one from Florida?" - as he now has this nifty keen link to the USA map - Still think we need a Continent map for those like Mamfa and a C A N A D I A N  for all those hicks ... I mean nice people up there in that great wide open space over us!!!

Then again a lot of people never put their location.

Do Not ASK IS THERE ANYONE FROM? - Look Yourself! Here is a clickable USA map to find people in your area!
Perhaps a smiley should have been added behind - Look Yourself! :) I am sure this message was intended to be friendly and positive and supporting the use of the new map. Now you can ask a specific someone from your state about their specific location within the state. Just makes it easier to communicate with each other.

I don't see a bit of "Curt" in Zach's post. w2 Zach really is a friendly fellow and is doing a good job. Being "Curt" is just not his style. I think you have misinterpreted the message.

I have always enjoyed the general mood of this board but was surprised by the curt message about people inquiring as to where others live....a contrast to Brenda posting that this is the friendliest board on the web.  If I go to my state, most people are listed as just living in Ohio and most states are pretty large....someone can live 4 hours from me and certainly would not be a trail riding buddy or a quick visit....do not see why this question should be a problem??
