Jo, that is perfect and he is perfectly beautiful!  Great job!  And for $5 ????  Oh my!  (I know it actually cost more since you added things like the filler and paint, but still...)

Spotd, that is so pretty!  It looks like he found a good place to pasture.

Well I figured out were I wanted to put Trigger, so Jerry placed him today in a flowerbed outside my window by the chimney that I look out alot.

I even built him a little fence but it hid to much of him in front so I put it behind him and screwed it to the tree, here he is in his own little paddock.

Here's a nice looking buckskin for future paint reference.

Really nice job with your statue! Looks like it was a lot of work. I loved the slide show- he turned into Trigger right before our eyes!

Sure, why not. Just get him to make a little platform on the top of the barn and bolt it down. Then if that sucker if turns, RUN FOR COVER!! :D

Thanks everyone,  I wanted to paint it a color that would really stand out in the yard and  Trigger Jr. "Allens Gold Zephyr"  Roy Rogers 2nd horse and the pure TWH is the most perfect Palomino to me and if I was to get a 3rd horse it would look like the statue or a spotted buckskin.

Sdlepal,  Jerry told me to decide were I wanted it and that is were he was going to put it, "once"  so I will have to think real hard,  I told him when he said that I wanted it on the roof of the barn like a weather vane.  LOL

Wow Jo, you did a great job restoring your new horse.  You are a very good painter.  Where are you going to set it now that is is done?  I like your Granny's idea about a good deal.  It seems like anything I buy like that is broken or a fix r upper.  It just gives the  items more  character.

Adorable!  I have a similar statue at the entrance to our barn - a cute little Palomino (I've raised TWH Palominos for years).  My road crew and I spied it outside a concrete shop several years ago, and loaded it into the trailer to bring home.

You guys did a great job of renovating him!

Well I was at a concrete yard one day getting a top for my birdbath and was looking at the other things and there was a pretty horse statue for a $100.00, but no way was I paying that so I went in the broken lot and found one just like it but it was in bad shape and crumbling pretty bad on the legs and base but is was on sale for  $5.00 !! the Grandma in me kicked in " my granny will only buy stuff if its a good buy, weather she needs it or not, she can't pass up a good deal"  so neither did I.

Had the guys to load it in the back of my Mustang and the poor car stood up in the front it was so heavy, so when I got home I had to call Jerry at work and ask him to come home and get the horse out of my car,  LOL  He went a HORSE !  I said not a real one, he was like knowing you it was a real Mini.

So we have been working on the statue little by little,  Jerry had to put Bondo on all the crumbling legs and make legs were they were missing file and sand then he put a coat of epoxy primer on it and it was ready for me to paint.

So I started painting on it Saturday and finished Sunday,  so here is a link to the photo album to all our work on my $5.00 statue that Jerry and I are right proud of .
