I just dont get how - with ALL the information out there about how bad this is for the horse and how many people DO NOT LIKE this and are AGAINST it, these people continue to live with their heads up their asses and not see what they are doing.  They will not even entertain discussing it.  If you try and post on a message board (nicely- no name calling etc- just presenting the facts and asking for their view) they delete it- they will not discuss it -

They do not want to change- and they want to do whatever it takes convince the rest of us that what they are doing is ok.

I also saw the RFD tv show with the Big Lick horses.  I think it came on right after a popular show if I remember right so a lot of people was probably watching.  I was disappointed in RFD tv but I guess they have to try to please everyone.  Those old judges or announcers who ever they were just smiling and promoted it like it was just grand.  My husband and I just set there kinda stunned how un-natural  and disgusting those  poor horse looked.

If you want to see who in the Walking horse arena that have Horse Protection Act violations go to http://www.hpadata.us/index.php

Yep, Pebbles has had 3 violations the current one is until the year 2012.

Bet you didn't know that out of 14 state of Tennesee representatives of the TWHBEA 6 of them have had violations of the HPA.  4 of those have multiple violations, the highest being Jack Heffington with 6 violations.

Yep, that's the type of association I want representing me.  NOT!!

Of all the riders in the Celbration WGC, all have had violations of the HPA:

Bobo - 1 violation

Baucom - 1

Compton - 3

Callaway - 4

Cotten - 10

Green - 14 (with one listed with end date of 2099?)

McConnell - 6

Smith - 5

Pebbles - 3 (with one ending 2012

Yep, our finest in the buisness.  Barf?

Forgot to add the winning rider Billy Gray, he's got 9 violations

Another disturbing thing, on youtube. there are couple stables that are showing and selling 18month and barely 2yr olds under saddle padded. What the heck? It's rediculous. And partially why I love the AWP Association, we do not permit that kind of abuse at all.

Then I am not the only one who feels totally frustrated and helpless to help the horses and stop the abuse.

I know injustices are a fact of life, I just dont always understand how - given unrefutable evidence that something is bad and destructive- that people just keep on doing bad things to others (people and animals included)

The mere fact that the people that perpetuate this will not even discuss why they are wrong tells me that they know they are WRONG.

But it doesnt change things.

Yes, and now there's the RFD-TV "promo" of their version of Walking Horses.  Yes, they show some lovely Western, Pleasure and Lite-shod horses.  THEN they show some "Big Lick" horses who are doing the exaggerated gait, but apparently w/o being sored.  (Hey, who thinks the equivalent of living on 6" "high heels" is inhumane?)

It's misleading, and disgusting.  To be frank, they did such a good job that I feel totally flummoxed.

Visited the blog- For the Tennessee Walking Horse http://forthetnwalkinghorse.blogspot.com/

and she had a listing of some of the winners of this years celebration including a listing of their violations of the horse protection act.

Now- is it true?  Dont know- would need to do more research to verify but taken on her word- and I have no real reason not to =if it is real it is a disgrace and a mockery of the horse protection act.

One of the exhibitors-

John F.K.'s Pusher placed 10th in the WGC class this year and was ridden by Dick Peebles, who has a CURRENT suspension until 2012!

REALLY????????  How in the heck did that happen?????? Where is the enforcement of the law????

On the others- you can see where the trainer showed horses even while suspended for 3 years- cause he received more suspensions.  (again if her data is correct)

I am glad that I know about this as I start my search for a new horse for my daughter as I will know what to look for when shopping TWH.  But really!!!!  I am beyond words and would like to take someone out behind the woodshed for this.  I just dont know who to yell at to make it change.  I am ending the rant here.  But I am beyond sad that these poor horses are continuing to suffer at these peoples hands.
