 And if that is correct, then Whatta's most excellent diagram needs a small adjustment in the blue line placement to indicate placement of the optional curb chain on the lower edge of the purchase (top, shorter ring), inside the cheek piece.

I've not needed a training bit, so never looked too close at the ICTB.  Now that I have, I like what I see and would want one if ever I need to start a horse to a curb.
