Let me tell you about that subject. I have been riding horses since I was just 3 years old and boy do I have some tales. This old man has been thru the mill, to being bit,dragged, stomped, ran over,and even picked up and thrown. But I have also been hugged, kissed, slobbered and drawn to a horse that was crying. GOD in all his wisdom gave us the horse for company,to till the fields for our food,to watch in their play, and to heal our souls. When I am feeling low they give to me the means of healing and happiness so I can marvel at them. They have a connection to my soul and feel my mood even better than I can. Sometimes when I am feeling low I will go out into the pasture and watch the horses and talk to GOD. It never fails to amuse me when they see me, they will mosey on up to me and gather around me. Ole Red will sniff at me and keep the others from getting to close and bumping me, all they really want is to be petted and talked to and told how pretty they are and how the LORD has blessed me with their company.
So to me my horses do have a sense of humor and they have that something else that connects with me and soothes my soul. Sure I get upset with them and even angry but I also love them. To stand among them and be at peace with one's self has no price.
Pardon the ramblings of this old man, but I have never truly met a bad horse like I have people, I have met some misunderstood horses, horses in pain and horses looking for attention but never a bad horse.
I know that horses understand LOVE also, just seeing a mare with a new colt will show you that, but seeing it in a horses eyes when they are looking at you is one of GOD'S many blessing for me.
I hope and pray that the people on this message board also know the peace and thankfuliness that I have with my friends, my companions aka my horses.
