Have you had him tested for EPSM (sometimes shown as PSSM)? I believe one of the universities has a DNA test available which isn't invasive. It's a muscle disorder which doesn't show up on x-rays. You can Google the term for more info. It affects the hindquarters - especially going down hills or backing up. Good luck! IPM
