You know, some of the finer points of these things are just aquired with experience. You seem to be a 'thinking' person and that is good. Just don't over think it. Your horse will need time to learn that this bit is going to be kind to him & that he can give himself to it. You'll also be able to commicate better b/c you have a better tool. Just keep riding & he'll get better and better and learn to stay soft & relaxed. You're doing good!
