Thanks, the Western Carolina Hunter Pace series is really a great list of organized rides running from September to May.. (link to the list: http://www.wchpace.org/Events_00.asp) They are well orchestrated and lots of fun.. and I've seen large groups of gaited riders participating. Since I don't have access to a trailer, I'm always thrilled to be invited to join a 3 rider team. You see all kinds of riders there... from English to Western and every hybrid in between! It is not a race at all.. the fastest completion times and the slowest are eliminated from consideration.. the goal is to complete the course with your horses in the best conditon possible at a reasonable pace. Going in, no one knows the optimum time, which is determined prior to the ride. Not being terribly competitive myself, it is the ride's setting and scene that I appreciate most. We'll be looking for a spot to take pics that includes the grand house in the background. I'm humming with anticipation!
