I read that it only really becomes an issue if they get so obsessed with finding the acorns that they forego their regular feed to wait for more acorns to drop. Blaze doesn't seem hooked on them, but Cajun will hang around the tree all day long, going round and round checking for more acorns. He will search the ground when he hears them drop. They have access to fresh hay and water 24/7, but I have definitely seen Cajun ignore the hay over the past couple of days if there are any acorns to be found at all.  They didn't start picking them up until they turned brown, but I went out there and spread manure around the tree and there were literally thousands of empty acorn caps around the tree. After I spread the manure, I still saw Cajun snuffling through the poop to get to the acorns. So no one thinks I should be worried?
