I love the way the bit enables me to use as little or as much power as I need to stay safe, one leg on each side.
It works great for bending and flexing, I try never to need more pressure than I would use if I held a strawberry in my hand on the reins, thatway I work on flexing and bending before ever getting on my horse and he already knows the bend, flex, and it's only a short turn to the one rein stop. I prefer this bit because of the pinchless construction, yes it has shanks, but you don't have to use them, there is a D ring to use the bit as you would a snaffle, without connecting to the shanks. I use my ICB on all our horses, gaiters and non gaiters, they all collect better, and remain softer and more relaxed, and every breed can use some of that.
Gosh I sound know it allish, but experience and trial and error has taken years to reach this point. No more experiments for me, I've found the one that works, and it is the imus comfort gait bit.
