Good news on the Savvy front.  She saw the vet/chiro today.  At her appointment the beginning of April the vet rated her injury at 60% and told me not to plan on riding her for at least 3 months.  Today, however, she rated Savvy's injuries at 85%!!!!!  She was really surprised at how quickly Savvy is healing.  She does have some scar tissue forming under her skin where the soft tissue was injured, so she is sore there.  This vet has a mare with a similar injury (only a little further up on her than Savvy's) and is having a hard time getting her recovered.  The doc also does accupuncture, and her mare does not like the procedure.  Mine don't ever flinch, but hers must be phobic or extra sensitive?????

So, in combination with chiropractic, accupuncture, chinese herbal powder, Conquer gel, and Ligaplex I, and PRAYERS, Savvy is coming along quite nicely.

In two to three weeks I can begin riding her for 15 minutes at a walk!

Thanks everyone!:D

I love horse hunting..gives me a purpose for sitting in front of the computer. My daughter got a deal on her TWH out of the Tellit and Sellit (or whatever the local sales mag is called). We know you want a safe horse for your hubby and kids. Anything else in particular that you want?

I'm in SW Ohio - this whole state is a mess when it comes to weather changes!  YIKES!  T-shirts one day, Carhart coveralls and gloves the next. . .s4  I hope the weather improves before Equine Affaire!

Tailgaiten, where are you in Ohio?  Somehow I thought you were southern, but you sure did describe local weather.  Isn't it nasty?

Come on down to our barn. The owner has 28 head and rides maybe two. There is one pretty tri-color SSH that has 1000 trail miles on her that's for sale. I have no idea how much. I'm guessing around $2000...everything's negotiable. I only have the owners say that she's a good horse. They did bring a bunch of church kids over last week and let them ride her, so I guess she'd pretty nice. They also said her mother was for sale and I know she's an awesome horse, but they want $5000 for her. I think that every horse there is for sale...except mine.

Well, my friend and I didn't go horse hunting today.  It was snowing, windy, nasty cold (2 days we were in the high 70's).  However, I've been emailing a couple of people who have horses and we'll see how that goes.

Savvy was out running and kicking up her heels (sometimes aiming a 1-2 punch toward Snoopy).  I was grimacing the whole time thinking that she was going to throw something out of whack.  Perhaps Snoopy should be put in the round pen and then Savvy won't be so inclined to be goofy.

Well shucks!  Just in time for the riding season!  Hope she heals quickly-maybe you work on Snoopy's issues as she recovers!s4

That's promising news for you and Savvy.  Good luck tomorrow, can't wait for the report!

Thanks all!  It's really amazing what a chiropractor can do for your horse.  This morning when I went out to feed, her fetlocks weren't puffy at all!  They had been jammed due to whatever injury she did in her joints/tissues.  She's also on this herbal powder for joints/ligaments, and when I mixed it in her feed the reaction was sooooo funny.  She looked as though she was looking for something to wipe her tongue off on and wouldn't touch the feed.  l1  However, the food was gone this morning and after an initial sniff of "that stuff" in her bucket this morning, she set off eating like it was nothing.

A friend and I are going to start looking for horses tomorrow - doesn't hurt to look and see what else may come my way.  I just want to throttle people who think that just because you have a gaited horse that you have to gait it as soon as you hit the saddle and also make it a practice (whether intentional or not) to put that horse in the lead.  Boy, am I learning more about what questions to ask.

Snoopy really is a great little trail horse when by himself. . .goes anywhere, doesn't spook, just cruises at a nice walk.  Why can't he be like that in groups?s4

Poor Savvy! I hope she feels better. I was wondering why you hadn't been riding her.

Gosh!  These things are going around lately! I hope Savvy is going to do be fine and soon!  I also hope that you and Snoopy get along and have fun riding together this summer.  Good luck.  Hugs and Prayers from Maryland!

TG, prayers from me too.  For Savvy to heal up right quick and for the Snoopy and you.  Like others said, I'm sure you'll take really good care of your girl and she be back good as new!

Yes, we will pray for all of you. Like Whatta said, maybe something good will come out of all of it. Rest for Savvey, new relationship with snoop. Keep us posted on how she is coming along.tu1

So sorry, TG.  No doubt she will enjoy her recovery time with mom pampering her;)

As for the snoop-dawg, I can feel your frustration all the way here:(  Hugs to you and Savvy, and a good stern eye and finger shake to Snoopy.  "You better shape up, mister man!"
