Bull *rap to your family doctor to tell you that! He is obviously clueless about riding. Keep a helmet on your head, a good horse under you, and trust in the Lord. You know how to ride, and you know your horses, so when you feel ready, get on and go!

Thank you so much Lakota ! Yeah there's no fear of death for me which is probally why I was able to teach all 3 of my sons how to drive ! LOL! Hopefully I'll be back in the saddle real soon. My family doctor told me today to sell the horses and put riding out of my mind because there's no way that I should even try it. All I can say is that he really don't know me that well ! No way that I'm giving up yet. With the Lord's help the doctors will get me fixed up and then you can bet your boots that I'll be honored to share my pictures of me and Mystery speed racking. May God Bless you too !

Retta

You may have a shunt in your brain, but you've got your head screwed on straight. Even death itself holds no fear for us when we know Who holds our future. Personally, I expect to see some more great pictures of you speed racking on Mystery in the very near future, so I'll be praying for your doctors to be quickened in their minds that they may be the instrument for your recovery. God bless you!r1

Thanks you so much Brenda ! It is hard to keep up with people when things get frantic that's for sure. This is definitely more than just a message board to me. It's become a friend and family board for me. When I was without a computer for a while I was lost to death without y'all. I'll be praying daily for my family on here and I really appreciate the outpouring of prayers and love that I've recieved.

God Bless !
Retta

Oh Retta,

You are SUCH a doll!  I had no idea you were going through so much.  There have been many issues of our own that have kept Jake and I distanced from our MB friends the past few months.  Life is getting frantic for so many, yes?

Please know that our fervent prayers are going out for you daily.  This has become so much more than a simple "horse forum."  We are family.

God bless. . .

Brenda

Thanks Sharon ,

Your warm wishes, prayers and kind words are greatly appreciated. Though we've all never met I always know that I can count on y'all for support and prayers in times of trouble. It's a true joy to know there are people out there willing to pray for others in their time of need.

My neurologist is located at a teaching hospital as well. One of his offices (the one I go to) is located at Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Viginia and is part of Marshall University. He also has offices at, I believe if I'm not mistaken , 4 other teaching facilties as well. I dont think that malfuntions of shunts are as common as they used to be. A friend of mine has a sister that has has a shunt for over 15 years without any problems. My first shunt lasted about 2-1/2 months before shutting down due to stopping up plus the catheter into the brain filled with scar tissue. We waited two months and tried adjusting it and re-programming it but no luck. When they went in they were jusst planning on putting the catheter in deeper but discovered that the shunt was full of "brain sludge"and had shut down completely. According to my neurologist all brains contain a thickened portion of fluid that in laymans terms is "sludge" . My hubby, Robert had a real good time picking on me about that ! He claims thats why I'm so nutty!

Anyways they replaced the shunt and the catheter plus sewed the cathter in place to prevent it from slipping loose. He said that he did that since he knew I had no intention of quitting riding. Now this shunt isw messingup and draining too much fluid despite reprogramming.I didnt tell Robert but I passed out this evening in the bathroom. Luckily I didn't whack my poor old head ! LOL!

I don't think that the shunt malfuntioned on it's own. I attribute it to a car wreck that I was in back in Dec. 2010. I bash my head against the driver's side window and was briefly knocked out. According to my neurologist this could've caused bleeding on the brain which could be clogging up the shunt.

Since your niece is much younger she should have less problems with the whole shunt surgery. According to my neurologist the younger the patient is the less problems they have. One of the preahers at our church has an adorable 2 year old daughter that has a shunt. It was put in at less than a year old , I believe. According to all the doctors she wouldn't live to be 6 months old but now she's starting to talk some and has taken her first steps. She's our tiny miracle at church and a living example of God's work , Love and Mercy. She wasn't supposed to live but she did due to His healing power.

I know in my heart He can heal me as well.

Love , Hugs and Prayers to All,
Retta

Oh Retta,

I have only a small idea of how terrible you must feel. My young niece has been having similar problems for a long time and now they say she needs a shunt in her brain, too. We have a fantastic hospital nearby with lots of neurologists. Its a teaching hospital. While my niece waits on the surgery (her choice to do so) the fluid is removed through spinal taps and she instantly feels better to get it removed. I never though about the possibility of a shunt not working properly. I'm so sorry you are having this and even more health issues. My prayers continue for you and for your healthcare and support team that every problem is revealed and solved and your health is restored.

More hugs,

Sharon

I'm going tomorrow for more testing on my arteries in my legs. I can't remember what the test is called. This will hopefully explain wht my feet are swelling so huge. If that yeilds no real answers I'll be goading, and spurring them to do more tests. One way or another I need answers. Today I've had crushing headaches that seems to squeeze the life out of my brain. Even typing messages is hard since I 'm getting my words backwards and misspelled. When you consider that I've never had these problems before there has to be something wrong in there. I'm going for an MRI on my brain as soon as my insurance will approve it and the neurologist's gets the appointment made. In the meantime, definitely no driving for me. The very thought of what kind of disaster my blacking out could've caused makes me sick. I think God that I did'nt hurt anyone. I have so many differant health issues right now It's hard to decide which end to start on. Hopefully working together my neurologist, my family doctor and my cardiologist can figure out what is wrong.

Glad no one was injured.  Has a dissected ascending aortic aneurysm or similar been ruled out?  Please keep on top of your doctors and query query query!   Have you had a dye?  Do your own research and for crying out loud, don't be shy about any questions or research you have looked into.  Of course, prayers are always sent your way but be your own best advocate.

Please keep us posted and I pray things are well for you,

T.

He must definitely have plans for me that's for sure ! I was too busy to count the bugs on that truck's front bumper but I was probally close enough to do so. If the truck had gotten any closer , good manners and honor would've required an introduction !

Lakota , If I do ever decide to sell my big boy I'll let you know. I think that I'd probally be more inclined to sell my hubby since Mystery has better ground manners than he does ! Too bad I can't get anything for him. The hubby that is !

Well, it obviously isn't your time to go or the driving incident would have turned out differently. Thank God for his power! He's never late is He? I will pray for you too.

Soo... Are you ready to sell Mystery to me now? I am just kidding!!! Keep your sense of humor alive, it will serve you well. God bless you and your family.

Thanks everyone ! I knew that I could count on prayers from my "family" here. It seems like it's one thing after another happening to me lately but I know that the Lord will never put more on me than I can stand and He will never leave me nor forsake me in this journey. My husband took me to the administrative offices of the agency I work for and they seemed to be real supportive and concerned. I then went across the street to my office to give my supervisior my work excuses. To put it mildly she was very unfriendly. Let's also pray for her that the Lord will deal with her and give her a kinder spirit and the knowledge to use it with others. It breaks my heart to see someone so bitter.

Thanks again for all the support you've all shown me through all my trials.
