I have signed into this board off and on over the last couple years. I must say every time I do I think about your accident and wonder how you and yours are doing, and wish you well in my thoughts. Its just horrific seeing the truck again. You seem to be a very strong loving person I will say a little prayer for you, for continued recovery, and hoping for the pain of losing your horse to lessen each day. When I hear of a life changing event like yours-I think but by the grace of God go I. Life sure can and does change in an instant. God Bless

Thank you. Though we may never meet face to face...it's so nice to have such great horse people to share life with. God's blessings to you all.

I second all that Pam says. I've always thought that a positive attitude is the key to healing, and you had such strength and good outlook that you were destined to recover.

Whatta, I cry when I see those pictures too. I remember so vividly reading about the accident. By seeing the picture you really shouldn't have survived, you are still here for a reason. I can't imagine going through anything as you did. You show your strength and inspiration to us here on the mb. You are always there to help us when we can't find a thread, when we are feeling down and feeling sorry for ourselves. You just seem to have the right words just when we need them. We are so thankful that we have you to keep us inspired and going. You truly are a gift from God! He has given you strength to make progress and see the good side of life. Thank you! You are still in many of our daily prayers. Karal, sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what you went through either.

Karal, I leaned on anger and blame for a long time. It helped me through rehab and helped me sort out and deal with the entirety of the losses. Anger has as much power as Love but I find my love is naturally gentle but my anger is very fierce. It seemed like the right emotion to latch onto for a time because it stood the test of pain - the pain it took to gain. After some healing, I accepted the truth. No one saw this coming and no one intended any harm. I know your Dad didn't either. I also know how hard it is to sort it out in a heart. I'm very sorry for your loss. Tho' the world may assign fault, the Lord assigns GRACE. Hugs, Whatta

Heck no, don't take the pics down! It's a part of your testamony. It stirs high emotions in me too, but God gave us our emotions and I believe they are meant to be experienced. The Creator cares about the creatures He created, including the gaited horses. You like Brenda, are an important instrument on this messageboard helping many of us with your knowledge. You are the one who always seems to remember and find some old thread with great helpful info. and post a link to it etc. Think of the benefit all this brings to the quality of life for all these horses. I for one just really love the folks here, they're all family to me

Whatta - I cry when I see these pictures. They look like the pics of my dad's truck. He died in his accident, mom almost did. In my dad's accident it was his fault. He ran the stop sign and they were hit by a garbage truck. I was only minutes away, and mom and dad's friends(they were following them) came and got me. It was a horrific sight. I pray for you and your family often. I cannot imagine having the journey you are living. I am reminded to thank God for my family and our blessings. Maybe part of your journey is to help people on GOG. Thank you, and God bless you!

I remember seeing those pictures when you posted them way back. They're still hard to look at for me. I can only imagine how hard it is for you to think about what has happened in your life. But, I'm so glad that you're holding on and making it through. Life truly is a journey.

That was a 3/4 ton truck. We were pulling a horse trailer with 2 horses and loaded for camping. The sudden impact in front caused our horse trailer to slam us in the rear. We had two horses loaded. The horse in the front end of the trailer sustained injuries and had to be euthanized at the scene. That and other things still gets to me. Tho' I'll never understand why, I have more peace about it now than I once did. We're okay. Attachment: side.jpg (Downloaded 43 times)

Some of my relatives have a body shop and I've seen some real smashed up vehichles, but that looks like people would've died in it. I suppose you were on the passenger side, God Sharon we are lucky to still have you!!!

Thanks everyone! And, love you too, Brenda. Neal is doing better. You know he broke his wrist just before going to East Fork and he was just released from the ortho on Monday. His hip has a lot of arthirtis and he will be needing a hip replacement at some point. His replacement will be put off until there is no other choice but to have it done because he is at a high risk of infection due to the amount of repair and hardware that had to be done to fix his hip after the wreck. Having it done will depend on his tolerance for pain so it will be up to him to decide when to do it. He was fortunate at work to sign on to another type of work there so he no longer has to crawl around on the floor of the school buses. Now he works in an upright position. He has been working 10hr days and sometimes 6 days a week. He's tired but he's glad to be able to do it. We are doing just fine. We are so fortunate. I hope all of you are also doing well. Whatta

Thanks for the update, whatta. You are such an inspiration! Our weather is beginning to change for the better around here, and I'm looking forward to getting back out and walking with Jake. Love you. PB

What a long road it has been. And I don't think your foot is ugly at all! I think it's beautiful and you're lucky to have it, fixed position and all! Even if you don't get back to the point where you can ride again, you could always have some pasture pets! There's plenty of those around. Of course they're still a lot of work. How's your husband doing? I'm also glad that you're still active on here. I really don't know what we'd do without you!
