HAHAHA  cute video

A couple of the girls I board with will leave their halters by the gate.  Yesterday I found one floating in the water trough.  It was nice and slimy!  to1

l1HAAAAAA! What a great topic!!

We had a TWH/Standardbred cross that we sold earlier this year. He LOVED for me to decorate him with whatever I had in my hand - scarves, hats, the lead rope- whatever. He particularly thought he was enchanting when I put my husbands work gloves on his ears. With his big ol' head he looked like a moose! He would prance around to get the attention of anyone he could, stand and pose, and then wait for everyone to tell him how wonderful he looked! He was a hoot! He also liked to pick up branches and sticks and chase the other horses with them! I put a heavy duty laundry basket in his paddock for him one time and he promptly picked it up and beat the other horses on their butts! Sooooo funny!! Here's a vid of him when he found his halter hanging on a post outside the fence...

Bigshot escaped the other night and went to check on 'his' girls.  He got distracted along the way and the neighbor called me to come get my horse-he was looking in their bedroom window.  Danged if he wasn't peering in the windows!  He would look in one window then go look in another.  Inside, the kids would laugh hysterically then run to another window and wait for Bigshot to arrive.  They'd laugh and he'd whinny back at them.   Toting my flashlight in the darkness, I could hear the pitter patter of tiny feet as the kids ran to another window.  Bigshot trotted around the house to find what window they were at.  He'd fog the glass with his breath, and the kids giggled and shrieked  to another window.

I was kinda sad to break up the game but it was 2 am and folks had to get to sleep!

Montana has figured out how to rip open the velcro strips on other horses' fly masks, and when he gets one off he holds it in his teeth and swats the other horse with it. He also picks up the orange cones with his teeth, tosses them over the back of the nearest horse, then runs around to the other side, picks it up and starts all over again. He can amuse himself (and me!) like this for quite a while!

CJM, my former TW did that - he'd used that lower lip area as a storage tank.  Anyone was fair game.

Okay, does my new TW, Rascal, have a sense of humor?  I think he's a hoot.  At meal time I've been teaching him to stand back and wait in a spot while I put his feed in his bucket.  All that time he's standing there nodding his head up and down, "Yes, Yes, I will wait, but hurry up, please."  The look of anticipation in his eyes is so funny.

Today, I came home from a trail ride on Savvy (rode with DebbieH and her wonderful horse, Patches) and found this waiting for us.l1

We board our horses so there can be unfamiliar people touring the barn or bringing kids for riding instruction.  My horse can be a real prankster to newcomers.  He hangs his head over the stall door ready for them to come over and pet him.  What they don't know is he prepared ahead of time by filling his mouth with water.  It's amazing how much he can hold in his mouth.  When they come up to pet him, he lets it fall at their feet.  It usually gets a big reaction which he seems to enjoy.  He doesn't do it for people he knows and likes.

When we were finishing the barn, General was always messing with the ladder while hubby was in rafters, often tipping the ladder over so hubby had to jump.  Then when we had roofers over to shingle the roof General saw another ladder opportunity.  Yup - kept trying to pull the ladder away from the building.  I was in the house at the time and heard yelling.  The guys were on the roof yelling & waving things trying to chase General away  but couldn't cuz he was on a mission!  I took my time getting over there, laughing all the way.  Had to put up a wire to keep him away from barn.

Yes, most definately!!  I have a horse that is a real clown and she knows it, and another that is so funny but he doesn't try to be.  He's just goofy.  I love em all.

Jbear, that was beautiful, thanks for sharing.  Nice way to start my morning.

I just had to reply to this as I have so often given Whirley Birdy the saddle gelding who took my mojo down the road. He actually had one of the most demonstrative (sp?) personalities. He would pose for the camera I have pic's to prove. He was a just under 15h horsey with beautiful blue eyes, black & white, cute horse, his real name was True. My husband loved him and still does. The horse was crazy about him too. One day my husband opened the gate to his pasture and drove in to see him in his truck, he found him and rolled down his window to talk to him, but he told the horse "I am not getting out of the truck today, boy" well all True did was stick his head in the back of the truck (where treats sometimes were hidden) and took my husband's shovel in his mouth and threw it out! Needless to say, my husband DID get out of his truck afterall.

HUMOR

Let me tell you about that subject. I have been riding horses since I was just 3 years old and boy do I have some tales. This old man has been thru the mill, to being bit, dragged, stomped, ran over, and even picked up and thrown. But I have also been hugged, kissed, slobbered and drawn to a horse that was crying. GOD in all his wisdom gave us the horse for company,to till the fields for our food,to watch in their play, and to heal our souls. When I am feeling low they give to me the means of healing and happiness so I can marvel at them. They have a connection to my soul and feel my mood even better than I can. Sometimes when I am feeling low I will go out into the pasture and watch the horses and talk to GOD. It never fails to amuse me when they see me, they will mosey on up to me and gather around me. Ole Red will sniff at me and keep the others from getting to close and bumping me, all they really want is to be petted and talked to and told how pretty they are and how the LORD has blessed me with their company.

So to me my horses do have a sense of humor and they have that something else that connects with me and soothes my soul. Sure I get upset with them and even angry but I also love them. To stand among them and be at peace with one's self has no price.

Pardon the ramblings of this old man, but I have never truly met a bad horse like I have people, I have met some misunderstood horses, horses in pain and horses looking for attention but never a bad horse.

I know that horses understand LOVE also, just seeing a mare with a new colt will show you that, but seeing it in a horses eyes when they are looking at you is one of GOD'S many blessing for me.

I hope and pray that the people on this message board also know the peace and thankfuliness that I have with my friends, my companions aka my horses.

I think so, just today I was putting on Trigger's scrim sheet, and he had been putting his head way around to watch me (we have been working a LOT on bending lately), on both sides. When I went on back to fasten the back leg straps, he's bent all the way around watching me and I feel a nudge. I look up and he kisses me on the nose! Mind you I am way back by  his flank. What a character! Wish I had a picture of that one.

jbearwalker's comment about his horse, trying to nudge him into the water trough, in the Confidence Shaken post got me thinking...do horses have a sense of humor?

I think so.  While sitting on a stool in front of Millie, doctoring her leg a few days ago, she started lipping my bangs!  I know I need a haircut but DANG!  They aren't THAT overgrown, but I guess she begs to differ!  :P

(*note to readers, she's not usually a hair grabber...that I'm aware of...hmmmm...s4)

Me on Sis (TWH) yesterday.
