WOW Souzko- 140 degrees!?!?  Makes Florida sound like the Arctic! And I'll bet the greenhouse is humid too! You are one tough cookie!

92 degrees feels pretty cool after I get off work.  I work in a greenhouse where it can get to over 140!!!  Chamois aren't just for drying cars LOL, I keep one on ice to hang on my neck.  Oddly enough I really do enjoy my job.

No Tina, I haven't ridden yet.  It's just too dang hot for me.  I don't take the heat well (I believe it's from having heat stroke once).  I ride for pleasure and don't find much pleasure roasting and sweating (or freezing either).   The other thing is that I don't ride alone, and it's hard right now to find someone to go with.  One is kayaking every weekend, one is laid up from surgery, one is on vacation, and others don't like heat either.

I'm a bad girl, I don't wear a helmet when I ride but I do wear one on the Harley.  Why don't y'all just keep a couple of insulated saddle bags full of ice, dip a baby diaper in it, then put it back under your helmet?  That's what me and my husband use when we're working around the farm.  They are super cheap, just a few dollars at Walmart for a big 'ol bag of them.  Just make sure you buy the wrap ones and not the padded ones.  They're very very thin and fit perfectly under any type of hat/helmet.

TN:  Have you rode yet?

Funny, Lynne... but hey that might really feel good!  I bought a helmet or hard hat liner that you soak and keep in the fridge, but haven't tried it yet.

It's amazing that we are looking forward to Saturday when it will only reach 92 as a high!  Whew...that's still HOT.

I love to guage the temperature by how wet my head is when I take my helmet off!  I love the cool rides when my head isn't dripping  l1.  I wanna put a bag over my head after a hot ride.

Well, Karen what about a zip lock baggie with ice cubes in it under your helmet?  Just thought of that.  My head is dripping under the helmet too, so maybe a dripping wet icy bag would help it.

Wonderful news Lynne!  Yeah, you avoided the surgery.

I am with Pam, "where did Spring go?"  We, too went from upper 60's to upper 90's and it has stayed right there for over 2 weeks now.  This week will be no better!  We are dying down here in this heat.

DH and I sucked it up and rode Saturday anyway.  We try to stay in the wooded trails or in the shade on the side of the dirt roads as much as possible.  But we still are soaked with sweat anyway.  Then because 3 others were trail riding on Sunday afternoon, we went along too.  It was a fun ride, but again we were soaked!  I need to go find my scarf that you soak in water and keep in the fridge to tie around my neck.  Those do help - for about 45 mins anyway!

TN that is great news.  Today is the nicest day in Michigan we've had in a long time. It's been raining for so long....yesterday 95! Last week the furnace was running cuz it was only 47.  But today is sunny!!! and about 70!  I hope you get some good riding weather!

Good news TN!  I know what you mean about the heat.  First we have two months of nothing but rain and then the day it quit raining it went straight into the 90"s and hasn't let up yet.  Ykes... WHERE DID SPRING GOs4

Yeah, I hate getting up early, but the problem is that in order to ride anywhere the nearest place is about an hour from me.  I have nowhere to ride at home, except in the arena.  I'd like to head up to Mt. Rogers in Virginia where I hear it's so cool in July that you actually need a jacket.  That's my kind of riding weather.  Might just have to suck it up and arena ride for 30 minutes or so.

Fantastic news TN.  Just do what I am doing now and get up early before the heat is too brutal to bear.  I'm getting up at 7am so I can be on the trail by 9:30/10 o'clock.  I know, you HATE getting up early, LOL! :?

Well I started this post because of my torn tendon under my ankle.  Just got back from the orthopedic doctor and he said "I'm turning you loose, don't need to wear the walking boot anymore and don't need to come back unless it starts getting bad again."  I have a lace-up ankle support he said to use that if I felt like I needed it.  Said the ankle appeared to be strong and gave me exericses to improve the strength.  So now I can ride.  Only problem is it's 95 dang degrees outside.

Sharon, I so agree with Karal too, but I have to admit that I don't wear shorts.  But I will, if getting a chance to swim, put on a swimsuit.  Hate them, but love to swim, so what are you gonna do?

I love that story about the biker chick.  Now that is a bit stooo-pid!!  There are always some like that in every crowd.

I hate you are still having all that swelling and am gonna be praying it gets less and less as time goes on.  You really have been through hell and back and your strength is so apparent.

Oh Whatta, I don't know what to say.  I am with Karal, most of us have no reason to complain.  We have no idea what you are really going through and having to deal with.  It is so frustrating when a body part does not co-operate with our brain.   You really are an inspiration to all of us.  I will continue to pray for your good health and smaller size leg.  Keep wearing those shorts!

you should not worry about wearing shorts! ( I know easier said than done) I will try to give you a laugh today. It is COLD and rainy in Michigan today. Over the w/e there was a Bikers for Burns, bike a thon. We are talking Bikers. My son's cub scout pack has a deal to clean up the park afterwards. They get to keep the returnable soda and beer cans/bottles in return for picking up trash.  Anyway...a biker chick...over weight (not saying to be mean, as I am overweight too) with skin tight short-shorts, stiletto heal sandals, tank top...freezing her @ss off...was walking around. Most everyone else had winter coats on. She is walking arms all crossed trying to keep warm. I was guessing it was a fashion statement...but I thought damn women, got no sense to get out of the rain dressed like that?

So wear them shorts when it gets hot! I still do. I have even been know to ride horses in shorts and boots, sometimes mud boots. LOL  Good thing my son isn't old enough, or yet cares....MOM you are embarrassing me!

I am very happy to hear that you are improving!

This one shows some of the scar and the way my foot is now shaped like a claw. My foot does not rest flat under me. My weight is shifted to my heel and the outside of my foot on the right side. My left heel was also broken and that foot gives me a lot of trouble as well.

You can imagine how much I fight with shoes. But, it IS getting better. You should have seen where I was . . .

I'm not proud of wearing shorts b1

Whatta! OMG! I so wish there was something Dr.s could do for you! I pray for both of you often. You may not know it...but you have helped me. With all the issues your family has had to deal with, it sure helps me see that there are so many things in life that really do NOT matter, and a huge eye opener of the things that really DO matter.  Thank you. May you have a blessed day today.

OMG Sharon, that looks so painful!  I do hope that one day you can be back to somewhat normal.  I know you said it will never be good again, but hopefully it won't be like that forever.  It hurts so much when feet and legs swell.
