I am planning on buying the ICTB because I really need a "english" style bit. But I am wondering is the ICTB legal to use in Dressage Shows? It would only be for lower level as we're probably not going above level 4 with Sunny, but the new Barn Owner thinks she's got the potential with her gaits and beautiful trot to do well.

The best thing to do would be to check the dressage show rules.  It doesn't look like a regular snaffle bit and they are very picky.

I asked on a dressage board, and they acted like I was trying to put an double twisted wire bike chain with shanks in her mouth.

Is there anyone here that knows Dressage that can weigh in on this, that really
knows this bit?

Did you give them a picture of the bit or just tell them about it? Interesting to think they would react that way if they saw the bit.

Showed 'em a pic straight from the National Bridle Shop. But then you know they're the ones that gleefully wear spurs, and put needle thin double bits in their horses mouths.

The thing is, Brenda's CG Bit is the Only bit that my pony likes and will nearly beg me to put in her mouth. She even will try to grab it if I take to long putting it on her because she loves being ridden so much.

Sunny'sMum, here are the official rules of the USDF.  http://www.usef.org/documents/ruleBook/2010/08-DR.pdf

Scroll down to page 23.  I believe that #11, the rotating mouth snaffle, may be the most similar to the snaffle action of the ICTB and it is permitted, but the best bet would be to talk to someone involved in your local dressage community to see if the organizers of the local recognized shows will permit it.  It is a snaffle bit without the curb chain, after all.  They do tend to be overly persnickety, though.  If all else fails, perhaps trying a snaffle with similar action would work?
