Hello all! Thought I'd give an update on my Imus Saddle.

It's awesome!

For many reasons, really. But last night's was by far the best.

My horse can be "naughty" for a couple of days during her heat cycle and last night was noooo exception.

She was grumpy the whole ride through - weed and grass snatching, spooking and grumbling. . . yahoo! Normally, she is considered very level-headed, calm, and quiet. So not many people believe me when I tell them of her antics during heat.

Usually, when a big black fly lands on her croup, she stops and waits for me to kill it. In fact, when the blasted things do a fly-by, she stops before it has even landed on her. Well, last night, I guess she decided she wanted the both of us off, because my level-headed mare started crow-hopping.

I don't know how I managed it, but first I gathered up the reins to keep her head from going down to the ground and gaining momentum, then I turned around swatting at the fly while she was crow hopping/kicking out/bucking (whatever you call it). The fly was mighty persistent as was my mare. I had to one rein her (pull her head around to my foot to get her to stop hopping), then turn around and kill that fly. It happened so fast, my head spun!

I honestly believe if I were in our old saddle, I would not have felt secure enough to stay on. With the Imus 4-Beat, I feel like I'm deep in the saddle and connected to her. It fits both my horse and my bum like a dream. Soooo happy I bought it. Good investment all around.

Thank you Brenda for the awesome design. I'm looking forward to seeing the Dressage/English saddle that's in the works too!!!!

yeehaw!

So glad you are enjoying your 4Beat saddle.  You will find it just keeps getting better (if that is possible)!  Every time I set down on mine it is like Awwww and I also feel connected to my horse but yet I feel deep seated.  We have had a new mare for 2 months now and it seems she has been in heat all that time.  I haven't even rode her yet it has been so hot and those darn files!  We fought them on the trail yesterday.  I think it is getting towards the end of the season for them and those left are very crafty - just flying around making  everyone irritable!  Keep enjoying your ride!

YES - that's why I love mine so much - that, and being able to ride for 5 hours without butt-bone/ hip pain.  I guess the twist is perfect and the Supracor seat has a lot to do with that.

sdlepal - you might check with your vet on any product that can calm down her cycles - you might look into Regu-Mate (I think that's the name) for a couple of months to help her through.

Also - both of you, you might try a calming supplement if you plan to ride during a heat cycle - you can give it to them before tacking up and allow it to start to work.  I've been using Calm and Cool (I like the black cohosh plus the other ingredients) and it has been awesome on all 3 (mare & 2 geldings) that we've tried it on.  I used it before parades with my mare and she totally lost the eaving, sides trembling, feel her heartbeat through the saddle feelings but she never lost her alertness, etc.

So glad to hear that you love your 4 Beat!

It's true, that 4 Beat deep seat has saved me many times, too. It has truly spoiled me for any other saddle. It has increased my confidence level 'cause I know that I'm secure....

One day I loaned mine out to a TWH owner at our barn (wow, was he hooked immediately) and rode instead in an old A****a western that I borrowed. Horrible, hard as a rock! And I had sore knees after only a short ride.  I wanted to be nice, but I kept thinking.. "I want my 4 Beat back.."  I could get 4Beat selfish if I don't watch out..:)

Anjanette,

Thanks for sharing the fantastic comments about your seat and your saddle. It will make a difference to a person looking for a saddle with a secure feel to the seat. The 4-Beat sits the rider at the center of gravity which is the best spot to 'ride' the horse. The saddle is also not so deep that the rider can't dismount in a split second if need be either, which makes it great for so many riders.

Brenda started advertising that the saddle is Better for the Horse . . . AND Easy on the Rider - she hit the nail on the head with those words!!!

Congrats on the ride, cowgirl! w2

Oh this makes me so jealous. I will be so happy when I too can get a 4 beat. I am slowly working toward one, so maybe one day I too can post how great this saddle is!

I hear ya slipslider! It took me a little over 2 years to save up for mine. And had a little panic attack when it was finally here, on my doorstep. Will it work? Will I know before 2 weeks is up? Does it fit right? aaaaa!!!

All that worry for nothing. Which is my typical M.O. Working on it, Marge, working on it.

Yep, don't think I'll be sharing mine either. w2  As the seagulls squawk on Finding Nemo . . . mine! mine! mine! MINE!

haha!

Have fun, y'all!
