Here is a picture of Charlie with his Imus after we have ridden. I had the saddle a bit more forward before the ride and it has moved back. Where should it be? Thanks!!!! Attachment: Charlie and saddle Aug.jpeg (Downloaded 163 times)

The pic is kinda small but it looks good from what I can tell. However, if it is falling down in the front or your horse is rump high then you might consider the HAH. But to me, it looks level and good. If your horse is acting like nothing is bothering him then I'd say, "Perfect".

Thanks. I feel like the saddle is a good fit. I think it is moving a bit back and forth so I ordered the HAH pad but have not really figured out what to do with it. Any advice? Also have the Imus saddle pad coming!

I have to assume that the Imus pad is going to be thicker than what you are using now. It might be that you won't need the HAH with the Imus pad (might). Jaeda was kind enough to share her saddle fitter's finding on this linked thread. This thread might help you know where to place the HAH should you still need it. tu1 http://www.gaitsofgold.com/wowbb/forum52/10091-1.html

The saddle will tend to move back and forth with the motion of your horse's back, and end up settling right over the spot with the least motion - which is the exact center of gravity. This spot is slightly different with each horse, but as long as the horse is loose-moving and apparently comfortable, I wouldn't worry. You may not need the H-A-H pad. But if you do, place it so the two round tops of the "heart" fit into the hollows behind your horse's withers. Place it on top of your regular pad, and glue or stitch the bottom strip of Velcro to your pad so the H-A-H can be properly positioned to fill in the gaps. Happy riding! PB

Ok; that makes sense; I didn't think about gluing or stitiching the HAH pad to stay in place. He had a good sweat pattern today. All areas of contact with the saddle/pad were wet....only that one hollow place behind his left shoulder was slightly damp, not fully wet. So that means too much saddle pressure in that spot, right? Will I build up the left side of the HAH pad to get the saddle off that spot or will that just make it tighter? I am using a blanket and a gel pad now, but will try riding with only the 4 beat saddle pad when it gets here. I really think the saddle is a good fit.......I am getting a little obsessive about it being perfect! Thanks for your help.

Don't worry about the hollow behind the withers not being wet. With other saddles that means there's pressure, but the 4-Beat is built so there is little or no contact in that spot, allowing the shoulder to rotate freely. Sounds like you've got a good fit. Congratulations! PB

I've gotten a few wet blanket rides on my Haffy girl, that's her only dry area.

Okay. Rode with my new Imus saddle pad and it was great. Saddle stayed in place and I had a beautiful sweat pattern. Even had the dry strip down his back!
