My horse is wet down the center of his back after moderate riding with my Imus Endurance; not soaked, but fairly damp. Shouldn't that area be dry? If it's a hot day and a long ride all the back is wet. Thank you!

I would assume that would be semi-normal. Specially for a whole long ride in a hot climate. You would have to consider even though you don't have the saddle putting pressure on the spine. The Saddle Pad is still going to be putting light pressure on the area and preventing it from having air get to it freely. So it would become sweaty. Think about how when you get hot and sweaty, even though there is no pressure on your back, just your clothes. You still get sweaty right?

I don't think you have a problem, Mary. I've seen my mare's spine both wet and dry. If it continues to concern you, you might consider changing pads (thinner probably). You can always check for soreness, but really, I think you're fine. tu1

Bigshot will leave a solid sweat mark when I use a certain kind of saddle pad-has a foam/rubber side. He'll leave a dry patch when I use the pad that came with the saddle.

There is a "string" test to see if you are putting pressure on the spine. If you tack up and leave a string on the spine under your pad and saddle. Mount up. If you can easily pull the string out you are not putting pressure on the spine. If it doesn't pull out easily, you are putting pressure on the spine. Carol

Thanks, Carol. I will give it a try. If the string feels tight coming out, what can I do? I love my Imus Endurance! Maybe a thinner pad?

You might just have to lift up your pad just a little and kinda let it peek up into the open channel on the under side of the saddle.
