Just ordered a complete new outfit for Sparkles. Black Western, standard, 16 in., pencil roll, with breast collar, pad, easy breathe girth and an Imus cover to protect it when not in use. Put off ordering for almost 3 months because of the troubles I have seen some people having posted on the message board. Finally decided that perhaps out of hundreds of saddles being sold, I was only seeing a few negative comments. And that Brenda and Jake always try their best to help the person having problems. Hope I'm one of the many that have no trouble at all and will be sure to follow up with pics and my take on the product when everything arrives.

John

YAAAAY! That is one BIG order! Your horse is going to look awesome! I don't think you'll have any problems at all. If you have questions when your order arrives, just post it here. We all love to help (and you are right, we really only help a small portion of consumers that purchase the saddle.) Congratulations!!

Congratulations on your purchase.  You won't be disappointed and your horse will thank you and you will be so comfortable in your new saddle!  You will love the pencil roll too.

Hi, John, and welcome to the board!

As with almost any product, some folks will occasionally encounter a glitch.. but you will find that, once you get used to using this saddle and accessories you won't remember how you ever got along without them.  After using mine for two years, I can truthfully say that I'll never switch.. and as a happy 4 Beat owner I take every opportunity to acquaint other gaited horse owners with Imus products.  Now, there are several more happy owners in my area and they are believers too.  Seeing the difference it makes in horses that move better and act more comfortable is the ultimate proof..

best wishes for that kind of outcome for you, too! :)

Congradulations!  Hmm , though sounds like you will need to round out your horse's "outfit" with matching Bridle, and/or Ride 'n Tie and don't forget the matching Bit ;) ! If you're going designer, might as well go all the way around.

After doing a 5-1/2 hour trail ride of an extreme challenge with my 4-Beat, I can definitely say that you will not regret having such a comfy saddle for you and for your horse.  I'm confident, you'll be pleased.  Can't wait for your pictures of Sparkles all decked out.

Welcome to the MB, and thanks for the order.  I'm confident you will love your saddle, and so will your horse.  Yes, we do get questions - I don't consider them "problems" - from customers here on the MB.  That's what we're here for, even though I'm aware that some newcomers will see the questions and wonder about the products.  Overall, I've decided it's better to have a forum such as this and trust that people who do their homework will eventually figure out that my products do exactly what we claim  they will do.  In fact, we openly advertise our two week "no questions asked" saddle return policy - and at under 3% returns, have the lowest percentage of returns in the industry (standard for off-site saddle sales is 18%-20%, and 9%-12% for on-site (tack store) sales.

Also keep in mind, the majority of my customers have previously been "burned" by purchasing a number of other saddles that didn't live up to their expectations, or the claims made for them.  So we deal with many people who are anticipating problems, and are very quick to jump on here if everything doesn't go perfectly right off the bat.  Since the 4-Beat saddle is positioned differently on the horse, has a different rigging system, and positions the rider more forward - as well as allowing more forward position of the feet - there is often a short period of adjustment while horse and rider get used to the new system.  We're here to help customers through that transition.

May you and your horse enjoy many happy, and comfortable, trails!

You can add me too!

I just got mine in the mail Tuesday.  The quality looks great.  I've only taken two short rides in it, but it does seem extremely
comfortable.  My horse now has an even sweat pattern.  He still throws is head up in the air when I saddle him or scoot the saddle around before cinching him, but I'm hoping that is just an old reaction to the other saddle.

I do have one tiny question.  My second ride was better than my first, but I feel off balance in this saddle.  I'm sure it is just b/c it puts you in a different position than I am used to.  Any suggestion on how to find the right position.  My second ride felt better than the first, so maybe it is just something that takes practice.

Thanks for the help.

Susie

Hi waymore,

Congrats on your new saddle.  It may be that you ride off-balance as a rule, but it's not noticeable in another kind of saddle where the rigid tree and minimal padding help hold things rigidly centered.  The 4-Beat will probably improve your balance as you feel where you are actually positioned and begin to make compensations.  (Actually, almost everyone tends to ride to one side or the other.)

It may also be that your horse is built asymetrically (again, most are), and this saddle adjusts to the horse's shape and motion more than another type of saddle.  If that is the case (you can send us pics to help determine if this is true - see the "Fit My Horse" form to see how to take a good topline photo), you may need a Have-a-Heart pad with no padding one one side, and one or two layers of foam on the other.  It's all a process. . .but one worth going through!

Keep us posted?

Thanks for the reply, Brenda.  I did send waymore's pictures in, so I could make sure I got the right saddle tree and a have a heart pad wasn't recommended.

I dont feel off balance side to side.  I feel more like I am tipping forward if that make sense.  On my second ride, I tried to focus more on sitting on my seatbones and that seemed to help.  I think I am also bad about putting too much weight in the stirrups and since they swing so freely I maybe pushing myself out.

I will keep working on it....I was just hoping maybe someone else has had a similiar issue.  At least this gives me motivation to make sure I ride every day.

A friend of mine who sold me my first 4beat saddle said it tips her forward too.  I got to thinking about that and maybe you don't have it up over the withers far enough?  I have never got that feeling but I think is takes just a few rides to feel more secure and comfortable in it after riding in other brands of saddles.  I have to say, my posture is more correct in the 4beat saddle and I set up straighter.  I used to ride sorta leaning forward to balance, but not any more everything seems more balanced.  By the way, which design did you get? Show us a picture with your horse all decked out!

It seems like a similar seat to the average Aussie, and after years in english and western seats it was a bit difficult to sit in my Aussie as it places the feet infront of the hips rather than under them by just slight. But I feel way more secure with this seat.

I am looking forward to getting Sunny an IMUS western though or maybe endurance
I am undecided, but either way I've found my limitations with the Aussie and they're quite frustrating. So I want an IMUS to focus more on my cantering and posting trot. Atleast until Brenda comes out with that IMUS ENGLISH she's been teasing us about so much.
