I mostly ride gaited horses but I also have a quarter horse and a draft horse. Would the Imus saddle fit either of them, too? I'm wondering about the wide tree. Both the draft and the quarter are wide with med size withers, not high or low. I LOVE the 23" inch length of the Imus and the shoulder clearance. So, this is why I'd really like to be able to ride the other 2 horses with it. Would the saddle fit in the same spot as on a gaited horse? Thanks for any info. ;)

I could use my Imus wide on one of our QHs and other members have posted that they have done the same. I have had the acquaintence of a woman who tried it on a draft cross and it did not fit. Her horse had a very short back and was quite sway backed and there was not enough padding to be made to make the saddle work. If I find other posts, I'll share the thread with you.

I believe I answered your question via email last night and here is the basic response I gave to an email we got last night. Your question is my favorite question, we have many many horse owners of non-gaited horses using our saddle. It absolutely does have the same advantages in regards to your weight distribution. The Imus 4-Beat saddle fits a horse differently from any other saddle on the market, as it positions the rider over the horse's true center of gravity. This means that the saddle tree - the heart of the saddle - is built on different principles than those used by traditional saddle makers. The width and angle of the gullet (for example), are designed to allow the saddle to be positioned over the wither/shoulder, rather than in the pocket behind the wither. These differences are reflected throughout the design of the tree.

My standard tree fits my TB wonderfully. I've been riding him in it for years now. And I just got Percheron/TB cross that fits ok in the wide tree. His back is a little too short for the saddle to fit perfectly though, but it works for now. I just have to go without a pad under the front part of the saddle to allow his shoulders room for movement.
