OK gang, you've been asking for a GOG get-together for a few years now - well, at last we've got a time and place established for it!

East Fork Stables in Fentress County, TN has reserved their entire campground for us from October 15-19th, 2011 (Note: NOT this year, but next).  This gives us plenty of time to prepare time off, decide whether or not you want me to conduct a one or two day clinic (as well as ride), and for Sharon (whattarack) and Neal to heal completely

I'm including a poll here regarding the clinic - my thought is that many of you have asked to participate in one, and this might be your only opportunity.  (I also will be able that way to do whatever instruction is needed at one time, and then relax and just enjoy riding the trails with you all).

Those who want to participate in this event should contact East Fork Stables (http://www.eastforkstables.com) and make your own reservations.  In the meantime, we have something really great to look forward to.  Isn't life grand!

PB r1

(name of the county was corrected. thanks. - whatta)

Hey, gret news!!  Not that it makes any difference to the ride, but It's FENTRESS County, not Fentron.  Just might mess you up if you're looking at a map or anything.

Spoke with Sandy Weber at East Fork and got my reservations for Cabin 4.  I had told Sandy I didn't know if there would be a dozen of us, or a hundred - but she reserved the whole park!  Said she can't believe how many people riding there have all Imus gear, and is sure we're going to have quite a crowd.

Those of you interested in going should make your reservations now.  A deposit isn't required, but you'll want to check out the campground map and decide what accommodations you want, then get them confirmed before someone else grabs your primo spot!  Added bonus: this will be the peak of the fall season.

OMG! I am SO EXCITED! I have to talk with you later. (I'm expecting therapist any time). I thought I had cabin 4 l1, so maybe I have the other one. Either we will be neighbors or we will be sharing. My mind is SO BAD. I can't remember anything. But I did put down a deposit and I can't wait! I was glad to get the larger cabin even if the money is more (which in my opinion the rates are great). I'm hoping that you will get to meet Connie and Stephanie and Becky and ME.

I don't think we will be bringing any horses but you never know, we just might. One thing for sure, God is Good. :D

BTW - Neal is as excited as I am! r1

I down loaded the campground map.  Don't know which campground  to go  to and what am I going to do with a husband who doesn't socialize much?  :?  He is my ticket there because I can't pull the LQ trailer.

If you want full hookups with electricity, water, and sewer then you need to be in Campground A.   If you want that campground, you'd better get your reservation in fast because there aren't that many sites that have all that.   Some of B campground has electricity and it is near the pavilion.   The ones in D are along a tree line (that's where I will make my reservation).  C does not have shade.  No problem if you have air conditioning, but I don't so I like to get along the shade.  It's a fair hike to the pavilion from those campgrounds, but it's quieter over there.  During some of the other rides I've been to, when it's meal time they drive a buck board around and pick up rider who don't want to walk.

Brenda and I have reserved a cabin and unfortunately it might have been the last one available or at least the next to last one available.

The cabin were all snatched up fairly quickly.

From what I am hearing this event is going to be very well attended.

Sdlepal, you bring your hubby to me and Neal. We won't be bringing horses so he can hang with us if he wants. Neal doesn't like to socialize either but the Miller Lite in him does. tu1

I really can't remember the layout of each one.  I'm also not sure about the permanent picket lines as I never use them.  You'd have to ask East Fork which sites have them.  I kind of think they are around the curve in the road towards the trail head as I've seen horses picketed there.

Gosh, I'm not sure about making reservations for me right now because if I go alone I'm not sure I'll have anyone to ride with.  SaddlePal, you up for a riding buddy?  I like to do a combination of walking and gaiting and don't like huge groups (well, I don't mind them, but the horse gets too excited.)  Anyone else going alone who might want to buddy up?  Guess I could always make the reservation and cancel if I need to.

How many have already made reservations?

Well my husband and I were interested in going, but we would have to stay in a cabin and since they are all gone, that answers that.

I hate to say it, but perhaps a poll of how many might attend a ride like this should have been taken before a place was chosen?  This sounded beautiful, but doesn't have enough accommodations.

We don't have LQ, so we're out.

TN yes, you could ride with me & hubby.  I am sure several would ride out together.  We can't do large groups either.    Our horses go  bonkers.  I like to walk and gait (as best we can) too.  Surely you will come,  you are so close!

This sounded beautiful, but doesn't have enough accommodationsActually, this is one of the few that has a lot of cabin rentals, more then your average campground.  I have a hard time believing that all the cabins are rented.  There are two right at the EF area, but they have at least 5 more off-site.  And there is a motel about a mile away which is closer then some of the off-site cabins.  I would keep checking closer to the date of the ride and see if any have been freed up.

There is probably still some rustic cabins, bunk house space and maybe still some cabins available. Maybe the houses are still available, too.

I'm thinking that reservations are highly likely to change as time passes because their cancellation policy is very comfortable. I rented now because it give me choice accomodations without concern of costing me a lot if I cancel.

Don't erase your calendars if the reservations are full up now. How about asking if you can be put on a wait list and ask to be called if a cancellation occurs? But even if not, I'm betting if you keep checking in, you'll find something that will do.

There are cabins available that are not on the map. The Deer Gap cabin is only 3 miles away from the office. I think it is closer to another camping area that is not shown. Unless I'm wrong, East Fork has done some growing and what you see on their map is not all they have to offer - I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Don't be afraid to talk to and ask what every you need to ask to anyone who answers the phone. They've been very patient with all my questions and I can tell that I'm going to have a wonderful vacation there.

Here's a very nearby place for cabin rentals, too. Looks grand!

I bet there are more places nearby for accomodations if anyone wants to start looking now.

I think East Fork will turn out to be a great choice. I hope we fill the place up. tu1

I'm excited about the GOG event at EF!  You could NOT have chosen a more beautiful spot or a more "Customer Friendly" environment.  Unlike some facilities of this type, you will arrive to find your stall super clean with fresh shavings waiting, water sources abundant and everything in excellent repair.  The trails are well-groomed and very well marked by experience level.  You can ride along the bluffs, gait through open meadows or meander through the woods along the spring-fed creeks.  The views are absolutely GORGEOUS and this should be the peak season for the glorious Tennessee foliage.  You will find working with the staff at East Fork to be pure pleasure.  I have my full Imus outfit  saddle, pad, bridle and bit  ready to go!  Bet there will be the world's largest collection of 4-Beat tack there that weekend and while you're in the area you can visit National Bridle in person!

There are SEVERAL places to stay very close by that are super clean and reasonable.  The Jordan Motel is a gem http://www.thejordanmotel.com/ and four people can share a two bedroom apt with kitchen facilities for only $80 a night and it's pet friendly.

This area is "The Trail Riding Capital of the World" so don't worry about accomodations if you are not a camper  there are tons of places to stay.  I will be happy to go and scout other places for the group and post!

I think I would LOVE this, but can't pull a trailer.  ANyone driving near Southern VA who would like to share gas price and add one more horse in their trailer?
