Lookin' great as always NOELLE.  I'm so happy Rain is doing so well, you've really worked hard and done your homework.  I haven't posted in a while because our weather has been so phenomenal that I'm riding a good bit.

On Leatherwood, I have two friends with gaited horses that love it up there, go quite a few times a year.  They invited me this summer, but Rain was not ready yet.  But they tell me trails are nice, scenery is awesome, lots of creeks, and the cabins are lovely where you can stay overnight, plus the food is good!

I will ask her more about it and post what she says here :)

Rode QHs all summer, and those geldings are good horses too.  Now with three horses to ride, it is taking some work on my part to keep all of the up!!! But riding Rain is amazing, can't wait to catch up and ride more with the folks here.

You gals have got to meet and ride!  Just plan it and meet up and do it!  And post pictures for us.

Noellee, love the new photos and so glad to hear Rain is doing so well.  Super news!  I bet you did have a hard time being patient while he re-habbed.

I feel like I have asked you before, but excuse my CRS, but have you ever been to Leatherwood, near Boone?  Lynne, TNTrailrider and I want to meet there to ride and stay in a cabin.  I am dying to talk to someone who's been there.

Susan and Steve, from near Asheville, who we met at East Fork said they have heard great things about it and want to go also.

Jo, as always you are welcome to come ride these roads, we have several that go 4 miles or so in many directions, plus wooded trails to get you to another one so you can stay off the paved traffic roads.  There is one road like this that winds up a mountain to a cabin, and a few fun trail routes to get back down the mountain, then another long dirt road again.  I missed riding Rain all summer while he was in rehab for his hooves, but now having a blast back in the saddle with him!!  The QHs don't  care for these forever roads, but Rain loves it! Especially with a group of gaited horses, he enjoys it all.

I am planning to take him the sandhills for riding this winter too, near Pinehurst.  That might not be too far from you.

Thats great news,  now I can ride all day on roads like that, gravel driveway type, when someone mentioned roads recently I thought of asphalt.

Do you ever go to Blowing Rock ? that is pretty much what all the trails look like, we like going there when we really want to do alot of gaiting.

Hi, been awhile since I gave an update on Rain, my TWH.  He made a very nice and quick recovery from contracted heels and deep sulcus thrush and the transit to barefoot.

The thrush is cleared, the heels are down and making heel first landings, and the frog has butterflied out to create a heart shape, getting plump and the center of the frog is filling in where the bulbs de-contracted further for the frog to swell into its proper shape.  He is walking sound barefoot, and gaiting up a storm.  I use the Easy Boots Edge on him and experienced between a size 1 and 2, found the size 1 allows better breakover at any speed, the size 2 were okay, but not consistently preventing forging.  He did not forge at all in the smaller size, and his measurements fell right there between the two.  He is doing great!

Here we are having fun last weekend.
