It appears the message board upgrade has no gone or is going into effect. I just saw it myself. A little shocking at first but upgrades are necessary even if I cringe at 'change'. I'm sure we will all get used to it in time and perhaps all of those having log in problems will finally be able to join in the topics.

One thing I noticed is the avatars are missing. I had to reinstall one for myself. I bet everyone will have to do so. I'll help where I can. Also, some of the emoticons are different. I'm sure we will get used to that as well. I hope that what we are seeing now isn't the 'final' result of the upgrade. If so, I'll see what, if anything, I can do from here to make it as clean and simple as possible for everyone.

The only choices you have for viewing color schemes are found in your own personal settings. Try them out and see if you can find a color scheme that works for you. I changed my settings and I think what I've done will work for me.

If there is anything I can do to help anyone, I'm here. But please understand that this is new to me as well. We will be learning it together.

Best wishes to everyone as we navigate this new board. I'm sure it will all grow on us and work out just fine.

We've updated the software for this board, mostly to give whattarack, Jake, and myself a break from having to go behind the scenes several times a week and delete hundreds of "spam" memberships manually.  The old board had no security in that regard, while this software will eliminate that problem.  It's also more secure from hackers (we were nearly hacked completely down once by a disillusioned former member).  There are years worth of posts that are useful, and that we would hate to lose in that eventuality.  There are many members who only come on once or twice a month - or year - who would be "locked out" should that happen.

I've been tooling around the board a bit, and don't find it at all difficult to navigate.  I know some of you are frustrated (I also hate change, and curse Yahoo! every time they force a software update on their mail accounts), but within a day or two you'll all feel right at home again!

I changed my avatar and while looking under profile where you put state, country then Birthday the next field is required but all it has is a colon and the asterick showing it's required info. Anyone know what that is supposed to be. I am one of those that just checks in periodcally.

Oh and I can only see 5 of the emoticons to the left, all others are little red x's

The unknown required field has been there for a while now. I have no idea why. Just put something there if you have a problem registering.

The board upgrader people will have to deal with the lost emoticans. I wish they could also restore the avatars but I think since those are not a part of the installation package and originals are stored on our personal computers that they cannot restore those.

go to the MENU, then MY ACCOUNT then the Preferences tab and you'll see board THEMES -- just click on the little menu and there's 4 options! :-)

I did that, and in my account under preferences, there is no section titled Themes. Guess I'll keep trying.

Also missing is the little section that allowed you put the quoted item ina block. Oh well, guess that's just improvements!

Forget it -- dummy discuvered it said Board Themes, not just plain old Themes.  Changed it to an Aqua Blue which is easier on my eyes.

If anyone cares to email pics to me for setting up their avatar, I'm willing to try to load them for you. I think I can do that from here. At least, I'll try.

send to: nbyerly@triad.rr.com

don't forget to tell me your user name so I load them to the correct user.

Thanks.

Lynne,

to put someone's text into a 'quote' just click the quote button above their post and a reply box will open with their text in quotes. It's easier than before. Or, you can still highlight a selected portion of type and click the " " icon in the reply box and the highlighted section of type will be placed in a quote box as shown here.

Okey dokey, this sure is different! I got the theme changed (I chose simple...like me and like it). Now the avatar search box is greyed out, got an idea for that?

I have it saved on my computer, so can re load, when browse button will let me.

The blue is kinda bright and I don't like change either. But I am for an upgrade to keep the "bad guys" away. While you all were having a good time at EF there was some wierd people posting on here. Thankfully the ones I could'nt delete, everyone seemd to just ignore them till the PB's could delete them. It will take some time getting every ones new pictures associated with their old ones. Just when I think I have won over the technical stuff, something new pops up! It does like nice though!

Ok, with the first change, everything was working great on my computer. I could see all avatars and emoticons. Only thing that changed was the color and the new updates. It was great.

Now that someone fixed it for those having problems, I now have the problems that were mentioned before. Some avatars not showing and emoticons are messed up as well. OOPs.

Looks like more work to be done to get this fixed for everyone.
