Help!- I have opted out of email notifications on my account but I see in watched forums there is no way not to receive emails when something is posted in forums I have commented on.  Is there a way not to get emails- I check the site often enough and it really created an issue with my email account w/the amount that was coming in.

Thanks

lisa

Sure. Go under the "My Account" tab and then click on the "Preferences" Tab. Uncheck the email notification box. tu1

Tip:

I've made a rule in my Outlook Express mail program to send all the response notifications from GOG directly to my deleted items folder. This folder is unique from other mail folders because you can go under the 'edit' tab while in the deleted items folder and choose an option to empty the entire folder. You will never have to delete individual email notifications any more. tu1

PS: I also have this rule in place for FWD items. It keeps the Inbox cleaner.

Whatta- I did that and I still get the email notifications.  I even double checked it this morning when I saw I got a daily digest.  Its from the Watched Forums tab under accounts.  You can either choose email me as the posts come in or email me a daily digest but no do not email me.

The email I use is an email specfically for shopping and internet interaction so that my usual email doesnt get clogged.  I had to stop fb email a long time ago (because I dont need to be notified there either) and I have been trying for several days to get into that email and it wouldnt work so our technicians worked on it yesterday and I had 1500 emails!!!!!!  (I just cleared it out mid June) a bunch were spam but he said there were a whole bunch from GOG.  Which is when I changed my preferences here.

I dont use outlook express- tried it- hated it ; ) Use Eudora for my main emails and have since I started using the internet and getting emails. (work and main personal) this one I access through the web.  I have now switched GOG and FB to my Gmail account (I think I have 4 emails ) so I can keep them separate.

Go to "My Account" tab at upper right of screen and click.  Go to "Preferences" tab, and uncheck the e-mail notification button.

Should do it!

Nope it didnt

the only thing I left checked was allow private messages everything else is unchecked and I just received another email.

Not a huge issue, I just dont read them because I already knew about them by coming here and it is clogging up the email space.

Are you sure that you are saving the settings? Then I would log out and when you log back in, reset the cookie.

You might also want to remove all the watched forums in your account. tu1

There's also the possibility that particular email was already on it's way....and your change won't become noticable for a few hours.  Internet mail isn't always instantaneous..... ;)

I logged out and logged back in.  We will see if that works.  I changed my settings yesterday morning and have gotten 2 since then.  One of them today so I dont think having one in the pipe line was it.

I'll let you know.

You know what is weird? For some reason, I noticed that I have not been getting email notifications and I have my account set up to get them.

Ummm, what ? Maybe you should set up to get them and you won't. :?

Did you check the 'Watched Forums' tab to see if you have chosen daily digest or emails? Honestly, I think you'll have to remove everything from watched topics and watched forums.

Well, and I didn't get email notification of your post, GG.

So, I reset the cookie.

CRS, have you cleaned out your temporary files and deleted your cookies? Just a thought.

Crs, you do know that when you post on a thread it watches it again for you, right? Even if you unwatched it previously.

Well still getting them.  But I moved the email to another account and will just have to be more diligent about deleting them.  Its the watched topics that is sending me daily digests.
