Arrived home at 6:00 pm completely exhausted but had a great time! Met wonderful people, beautiful horses. Got to ride a few very nice horses and Peg (Dawnrider) was kind enough to not only let me ride her beautiful racking horse but try out the 4 beat saddle.
Everyone was great, the trails were fabulous, just wish I had more time to spend on them. But don't think my body could have taken much more.
I did take a few pictures and will post as soon as I get the time. I haven't even gotten my camera out of the trailer yet. Have to go back to work tomorrow. So hope i will get the chance Friday to try and load them.
But there were others that took pics as well and cannot wait until everyone gets back and gets them all posted.
I took my green gaited horse and was of course apprehensive that i had made the right decision in taking her. But all in all she did great. She is pacey right now, but I did get to feel her gait out on the trail as they had many hills and deep sand. And it was a fabulous little gait. Smooth as silk.
Thanks to Brenda, I now know how to work with her to get her gait on the flat ground I have here at home. Can't wait to start working on her and developing that gait.
More to come as I have had a chance to catch my breath.

I, too, had a great time.  I only went for the meet and greet on Saturday, but it was so worth it.  I have to get back there with my horses.  Such a pretty place.

The food was great, and it was wonderful to meet everyone.  I have a few pics too that I will post, although not many, and not too good.  Too busy chattingl1

Well, it's about time -  I've been checking in all the time just to see some pics and arrival announcements.  So glad it was great.  Hope there is another one next year closer to me {jealous whine}

Back at work, but there was some discussion about meeting again in a different state and perhaps doing a clinic sometime as well.
Jake and Brenda are slowly improving health wise and she is hoping in the near future her energy will be back enough to do so.
Sorry no posting while I was there. I did not have laptop, there were a couple of people that did and but you had to go to the office and sit there to pick up internet.
I did not even have cell service.

I almost did not make it down there. You know how best laid plans go! I worked a little every week after work to prepare, so when Friday came, it would be as easy and stress free as possible, HA!!
At work we usually get paid on Thursday, but no, not this time. They were not ready until that Friday morning. So I have to drive, pick up check and deposit. My cell phone broke, so my mother was kind enough to let me use hers, but would not arrive at my house until 11:30 (of course i originally was hoping to leave about 10:00.
Well, I finally get everything loaded up, and just waiting on my mother that should be at my house any minute. When a friend pulls up to chat, ugh.
Finally have cell phone and ready to go. Get several miles down the road and it is 12:00 so I decided to stop grab a burger. That is when I realized I had left my little wallet that I keep credit card and my cash that i was taking at home on desk, Ugh!! Turn around head back home.
I arrive to find all doors are locked. I don't have a key (another long story), so I find the only window not locked is the tallest one at the back of the house. Grab lawn chair and the window sill is now level with lower rib cage, so i am going to have to push up with my arms to get myself in. No arm strength, but i manage to do so and wiggle my self through. Now the window sill is very uncomfortable and is starting to cut off my circulation as I hang there with hands on floor trying to support myself and my butt and legs dangling out of the window. I am stuck, I can just go ahead and fall forward, but finally manage to get a knee, then leg through to help brace as i roll on in.
Now i get my billfold, go out to the truck and remembered that I noticed it might try to run hot, so just better check the water level while i am here. Raise hood, check everything all looks good, walk around the side to go back in house to lock everything back up and for some reason i am still not sure of, I had one last look under the hood, this is when the hood (that i had not pushed completely up in my haste, decided to come crashing down, I saw it coming tried to catch it with my hand and pull my head back, but was not fast enough before it bopped me hard enough to smack my mouth against the fender, ouche. Thought it broke a tooth, but no just busted my bottom lip. OK, so now i am wondering if i should unload and just call it quits!
But decided to try one more time. I have now used up 1/2 of one of my tanks so stop to fill back up and check on horse.
I noticed that a couple of things I packed had slid toward the horse. And of course these are the heaviest of items, that i now needed to rearrange. Note: This trailer was new to me, had not hauled camping gear, ect in it before, so was not sure how to arrange things and it is not one that you can have packed and then load horse, you have to do the opposite.
Finally get on the road, no time to stop and eat now, got to drive straight through to get there before dark. I hit three traffic jams where we come to a crawl, but finally arrive at my destination about 4:50. Office unkown to me closes at 4:00, but thank goodness it was still open.
Get trailer in camp spot, take horse to stall 20 and shavings are out in stall waiting, how nice!, but discover that the metal gate has a broken place with metal jutting out, what to do? no duct tape, Awe I have vet wrap, go and get vet wrap and it does a nice job of taking care of that problem, but latch on gate is loose and can be easily opened, so go to get rope to tie around gate, come back to stall to do so and a gentlemen says, "We are riding our horses right now, but like to put them in the stalls when we get through, if you don't mind moving your horse. " Now i understand i had stall D20 and mine is suppose to be C20! Well at least i fixed that mans stall for him, hope he appreciated it, but he was a very nice man, thank goodness.
I did forget one important item, my horses water bucket. But I had brought along a pail and so used that. Thank goodness, they have a hose at each stall so you can run the water straight in to the bucket and don't have to unhook and carry it. Because i had to refill several times as you can imagine.
So that it my trip to EF.

Now my stay. I had Dawnrider, one campsite down from me with her tipee, and I met her first. Such a nice person. Her and my horse really hit it off. Even though they were not stabled anywhere near each other, they kept looking for one another the whole time.
Saturday, I went and found Pharmgirl, that had traveled from Michigan with her daughter and husband. She then pointed out Susan (forget forum name) and her husband and introduced them to me. All very nice people.
As my horse was green I proceeded to do roundpen work and then met Peg with her horse out in the very nice arena they have. Found out Kara does much better (no surprise there) following another horse.

By this time TN Trailrider had arrived with her friend Kathy and were getting ready to take a short ride before the gathering at Whattas and TB cabin.
So i joined them and discovered why EF is a gaited horses paradise for rides. Many wide sandy trails, with some deep sand. Which was perfect for my pacey horse and I was finally able to feel what her gait is going to be like. Smooth as silk, I was tickled, even if she only did it for a few strides. There were nice gravel roads as well as wonderful trails through the woods and many ponds.

We then met everyone one at the gathering, ate some wonderful food that all brought. We all talked as if we had known each other for years and I guess in some ways several had, even if we have never met face to face.

Sunday, moving slower. So this time, I joined up with Pharmgirl as she had met a very nice woman and her husband on the trail ride she had taken the day before. They live very close to EF so know the trails and were willing to take us out to whereever we wanted to go and show us the sites, ect.
They were very very nice people and we did not have to worry about trying to figure out the map or getting lost. So pharmgirl, her daughter, susan and her husband and i with these three nice people on quarter horses started out around 12:30. I am not sure how many miles we rode, but i can tell you it was up mountains, down mountains and around mountains. As well as through many streams. This is where i finally managed to take some pictures, hope they turn out, it was gorgeous scenery.
I was riding Kara next to last out of the group. Parmgirl and daughter were in front of me keeping their horses behind this nice slow quarterhorse as that helped their horses to remain calm and walk. With a just a few miles left to go to camp, day dreaming along when all the sudden i see a group of horses going off on a trail to my left, but there are a good piece ahead, and my group is going off to the right. I am wondering what horses they are, when it dawns on me that I don't see any of the gaited horses. Only the Quarterhorse people. They have all grouped together when i was not paying attention and now i am with the Quarter horse people following them at a walk down another trail, But out guide says they are taking the long way and we are taking a short cut, we will wait for them at the next crossing. We get to the crossing and wait, wait and wait. I tried to convince them as they are gaited horses they have probably gone right ahead, but she saw them walking, did not think they were gaiting and did not want to take a chance and leave them on trail as they said they could easily get lost and it would be getting dark soon. So I think we waited a good 30 minutes if not more, before we continued on to camp.

Now wouldn't you know the first time i get to take a gaited horse on a trail ride, i get stuck with the quarter horses! I would have loved to been with them so i could have worked and felt Kara's gait.

We come crawling in to camp around 5:30 to find them unsaddled and sitting down and eating, lol. But it was a great ride and i enjoyed my self tremedously.

Went back to Brenda's cabin as they were sitting out leftovers for anyone to come over to eat. Talked to all there awhile before heading back to my camp. Lynn (TN Trail rider) came over and we talked for a nice while and i enjoyed to getting to know her better. .

Sunday, Brenda as i mentioned did the mini clinic ( i guess that it what to call it). I believe Whatta took pictures and videos, so that should be interesting to see.

By the time clinic was over it was time for me to start packing to go. But i sure did want to get in one last short ride. Good thing I decided against it. As i did not want to be traveling at night or getting in any later then i did. I traveled straight through, no stop. Arrived at 6:00 pm.
To find that horses needed to be watered, feed and chicken eggs had not been gathered, house was a wreck. Truck and trailer had to be unloaded, somehow i got it done.

So that is my experience and i am so glad i got to go!!

Those was great stories.  You are brave to even start out by yourself.  It always seems like when you plan a vacation,  every thing goes wrong.  It does makes you question if you should go or not.  But I am glad you did.

Here is a picture on top of one of the mountains, so very pretty.

This is where we stopped to see a water fall. These are a couple of the Quarter horses that were our guides.

This of course is the waterfall.

Susan and hubby behind, coming down from the top of the water fall. They were the only ones that had the energy to climb to the top.

Trail going up the mountain. You can see how nice the trail was with some big limestone rocks. My horse was the only one that was barefoot and she had no problems.

Pharmgirl's daughter

Pharmgirl doing her best pose.

This girl was on the calmest, rock steady appaloosa. She lead the majority of the way. Except for Susan and her hubby. They like to go, so they would go on up the trail and then wait.

Stopping for a rest at one of the many streams we crossed.

Going down the trail.

Susan, hubby,Pharmgirl, and daughter heading down a beautiful trail.

This is the very kind people that offered to show us the way on there Quarterhorses with their sidekick.

More trail pics.

We are packing up from stopping for lunch. Kara (my horse) is the little sorrel standing alone with no rider beside her.

The view from on the top of the mountain where we stopped for lunch.

If you look close you can see some buildings down below. We rode down past the buildings on our ride. Those pics to follow.

Here is the little building you saw in previous pic. Cute little cabin.

More trail pics

Pharmgirl's hubby with their dog pierce that also accompanied us on the trail. So Kara had plenty of dogs to get use to as well. She did not mind them, except when they trotted right on her heels.

Susan on top of a platform you could climb to see the beautiful mountain view and i believe that is Pharmgirl I caught in the lower left corner.

And here is Peg's (Dawnrider) famous Tepee. Unfortunately she was not in sight, so did not get a picture of her.

These are fantastic! I have quite a few pics from the mini clinic you mentioned. I'll have to resize to upload but here is just one of several I have of you.

LOL that was the first thing I noticed but I thought well you can see her pretty boots, I fuss at Jerry aobut wearing short jeans, I wear them almost draging the ground, but my last picture I had on my short jeans because they were also my fat jeans, HAHA.

I was tired just reading about your adventure before you ever got on the road good, don't that really make you think maybe I should just stay home, the bad omens sometimes spooks me,  but all in all sounds like it turned out to be a weekend you won't forget, and great pictures too.

Nice picture Slip! (Thanks Whatta!)  I like your boots too, how else would we see how pretty.  I just give up when I have my fat jeans on too and tuck them in my boots.  Sometimes I am embarrased to look at myself.  DH likes boots so he doesn't mind:D.  Your Kara is turning out to be quite a trooper.  A good example of what a rescured horse can be like.

Slip is SO QUALIFIED to be riding a horse that I'd respect her if she wore a bikini with sneakers. She's two thumbs up. tu1 tu1 I actually perfer my short pants as long as they don't come over my boots.

AWE, thanks Whatta, at least i don't look quite as fat in this last picture.

Edited to ask, Where are all those clinic pics, you still working on them and didn't you get some vids as well. Can't wait to see those.  I know Pharmgirl got some pics as well, she should be back home by now, i hope. So maybe she will be posting before long as well. Oh and so did Peg (Dawnrider). I am looking forward to everyone's pictures.

Ha, I understand. Take your time, was just curious. Some days the pic thing works great for me and no problems and then others it is one big hassle.

I still find the easiest way is to load to photobucket. Then you put your cursor over the pic you like a drop box comes down and you click on the IMG, it automatically copies, i paste it in the reply box and it is done! I don't have to resize or anything. I have not tried the vids from there, but think it would do the same.
I was so made that i did not think of a video on the trail while riding. But then again I had my hands full with the green horse and just pics, I was afraid the click would scare her but it didn't, that is why some are a bit blurry and of course we are moving. I was not able to stop her and click. So they turned out pretty well considering.

Ha! Well I was stuck there for a minute.  But really I thought I looked fatter in that picture then I believe that i am. Of course the picture I have in my mind is what I looked like when i was 24, so it is a shock to see what i really look like now.
