I did tons of research on google and youtube and im almost positive diesel is a missouri fox trotter.  i dont have a video yet i know based on pics its hard but i figured it didnt hurt to ask so here he is.

(please excuse the falling off blanket on my mare to the left she was laying down and got up as i took the picture)and please excuse the mess in that paddock we went and got them unprepared.

Just a guess. His head is kind of long for a fox trotter, looks more TWH. Since they all seem to come in different sizes in shapes, it's hard to say. I have 4 fox trotters. 2 are built about like your guy, but have shorter heads, more Morgan like. Since many lines are traced back to Morgan bloodlines. Some lines do trace back to TWH, and this guy could get it from there. Did you get any backround on him when you got him?

Since you bought him at auction and recieved no papers, it's hard to say. Papers are usually a selling point at an auction. 9 times out of 10, a seller that doesn't want to be found, sells with no info. If you like him and he gaits, to me, that's all that matters. Nice looking guy.

I agree the head looks like a walker , but the body sure looks like a MFT,

possibly mixed??

He is a beautiful boy. Have you ridden him, how are his gaits. Sometime walkers have more of an extended or longer reach. MFT to me are a little more compact.

Not sure if that would be the way to say it??

Remember that at one time the Foxtrotter registration allowed Walkers to be registered with them to improve the breed. I've seen Foxtrotter papers that had Registered Walkers on them.

A friend of mine has a reg. Foxtrotter that has a high stepping front end on him like a Walker.

I'd say it'd be a good guess that he's a Foxtrotter, and a pretty one too!

Looks like you got yourself a real nice horse.  How's the gait?  As long as the gait is good, you could videotape it and register in the Pleasure horse association.  Marilyn in MI

That big plantation bred head tells me TW. But....that front end tells me QH. Maybe it's the angle of the shot. I dunno. If he can gait and do more than a trot under saddle and have the right markings (which it looks like he does) you can also register him with NSSHA.

If he starts hanging out with you alot while your outside piddlin' around and is all up in your business as if everything you do is for him and he would rather be with you than the herd and is the first to "run" up to you in the field like he's estatically happy to see you and runs off the other critters if they get to close to "his" human then I'd say he's a Tennessee Walker and congratulations!r1

He's nice. I like him. When should I be expecting his arrival?w2

Diesel's head looks like my Foundation MFT's head and he has some TWH in him. My friend has a grade MFT(all black) who has a body build like yours.  They do have many body types due to what breeds they have in them.  A good book about Foxtrotter background is "Of Royal Blood"  by Dyan Westvang.

As long as he does the foxtrot and has a nice personality and is healthy-then you have yourself a great horse.  It would be nice to have the papers but since you can't breed him-it's no big deal.  I wonder, though, if you could get any seller info from the auction house.  It might be a start. Marilyn

i agree that he looks like a TW, his head screams it lol, but i'm no expert. is he a stallion? the only MFTs ive seen that are that big in the neck and front end are stallions. but again, i'm new on the scene and definately am not an expert lol.
