Last year I looked at a trottingbred pony and really like him.  I didn't buy him as I thought that he was to expensive.  I really fell in love with that pony, wanted him badly.  Instead I bought Gabby.  This past week I found out that he is still for sale with a lower price.  When I looked at him, I was interested in driving him but I watch a video of him and I saw that he has a gait but the people that have him kept pushing him through to a trot then a canter.  Trottingbred are a mix between a standardbred and a pony, preferably a welsh or shetland.  They are used for harness racing on a half mile track.  I had never heard of them until last year.  I am going to try and see him this week and hopefully bring him home.  DH said that we should go look.  Pray that the guy that owns him will sell especially sine he has been trying for two years.

So far I have tried to see him twice.  Since we have a small business, weeding, trimming trees and hedges, housekeeping and anything else to get us over this "economy",  I have not been able to go because of jobs.  Spring is a very busy time.  I hope to get over to see him next week.  Keep praying.

Hey there. I did bring him home as you can see on some other messages. He is great. You can Google Trottingbred and the main site will show pics of them. You can go to youtube and put Super Coop for sale and see him in the obstacle course, look close when the clip says that they take him for a canter and you will see him gait for about five steps but you can tell they are pushing him through to the canter.

Trottingbreds get the wonderful temperment of the standardbred. My Coop has turned out to be an amazing pony.

I just recently sold a registered Trottingbred mare. I have a 1/2 Trottingbred, 1/2 MFT pony mare and her 3/4 MFT daughter. I was using the Trottingbred to cross with my MFT stallion and raising gaited ponies. She was a really nice mare, she raced as a pacer, but would trot out in the field.

Hey there Tonipony, glad you could join us. My Super Coop has turned out to be such a blessing!!!!!. He is such a wonderful addition to our family. Just Hubby, John, dog Rozie Rue, and Levi our cat. I have been looking for a special horse or pony for some time and went through several that were just here for a stopping place til the right person came along. Coop is a keeper.

He has awfull allergies (see post "allergies") but I didn't know as I have owned him for amost four months. Hopefully next smidges' season I will be more prepared. Also think that he was allergic to alfalfa. His feed was an alfalfa base so I changed him back to sweet feed. I don't think that he is itching as much, no new raw spots.
