Well I wish I had known the breathe easy came with the roller buckles, because I just ordered and recieved one from NB online and they did not list or offer one with rollers.  My old style girths had the roller system and it is really a nice feature.  But alas I used my cinch on Saturday live and learn.

Sorry for the confusion. The Breath Easy cinch does NOT come with the roller buckles. This is b/c the 4-Beat saddle has 3/4 fired rigging, and if you run the latigo leather through a straight bar roller at an angle (as it must be run with this rigging) then there is extra pressure at one end of the latigo. This can result in cracking and breaking.

Okay, that helps me too.  I was with Rydincolor...got the cinch, but it didn't have the roller buckles, then read others talking about that the new ones have them and I was feeling like I got an odd one.  I do like the cinch a lot.  My horse would back up when I got ready to tighten the last time - to avoid me - before mounting and now he doesn't.  So it has his approval too.

I've used a mohair roper cinch with straight roller buckles on my 3/4 fired rigging without any problem.

so far. . .

Eventually if you place a leather latigo in a 'v' formation across a straight buckle, you will get sheering and weakening of the leather. I advise if you continue using this set-up that you keep a close watch on the latigos, and replace as soon as you see any cracking or signs of wear.

OK, I will.  I already do regular maintenance and safety checks on all my tack.  I have no problem replacing my leather latigos every couple of years if needed.  It's a good trade off for use of the roller buckle.  Thanks for your concern.

I received a new catalog with my saddle last week but I can't find the 4-beat breast collar in there.  Am I overlooking it?  And will it also be the dark finish like the saddle?

Thanks!

It was an oversight. Call NBS at 800-251-3474, and they will add a matching BC to the order.
