Hi, I got into western riding in 2011 and am taking lessons on 1/4 horses. Love it!
I'm 48 years old and slight of build -  about 5ft 8 or so, 148lbs.
What would be a good 1st saddle to buy? I plan to do both trail riding and ranch riding, but no roping! I just want to enjoy riding at my age!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Jon

Hello Jon9 and welcome.  We can only recommend one saddle  around here and that is the Brenda Imus 4-Beat saddle.  It comes in several styles and it sure makes for a happy horse and when you start to age, it feels good to the human too.  Check out the home page for some information on them.  National Bridle Shop sells them for Brenda.

p.s.  Just a bit of "lessons learned".  You can try every brand out there and waste money trying to get the right one.  Start out with the 4-beat and you won't be runnin around trying to find that perfect fit!
