Hi guys, we are starting up a new saddle club for the Tennessee Valley area for all breeds of gaited horses. Our kickoff meeting is going to be Feb 9, 7pm at the El Olmeca in Ardmore AL/TN (it is one of those state line type of towns for those of you that don't line in the area).

Go to http://tvgpha.org to see what we are about.

Pretty good for just word of mouth. We have around 20 commitments to show up for the kickoff meeting. We are going make up some flyers to put around at the usual horsey places and at local shows when those start getting cranked up around here. There is not really alot of support for gaited horses in our area (unless you are into big-time showing) and not really a lot of accurate knowledge of them in the non-gaited set either, so we finally got tired of that situation and decided to do this. If you find yourself in our area for some reason give us yell, would love to have you ride with us or let us treat you to lunch or something.

I'd be interested.  How far is it from the Chattanooga area and what are the aims of the club.  Not interested in showing, but love trail riding.

Well distance form Chattanooga would depend on where we set up a ride, could be anywhere from 1 hour to 3 depending on where in our area we are doing something.

In a nutshell, we want to trailride and do other things as a group to build a support network for gaited riders in our area, and to also promote the uses of gaited horses by sponsoring gaited pleasure classes in open shows, encouraging and helping gaited owners to compete in traditionally trotting-dominated events (but only if it is something they want to do anyway of course), generally whatever we can to have fun and show the equestrian community around here that you don't have to be scared of buying a gaited horse. Take a look at the website and I think you will get the idea, and keep checking back as we will start adding events soon. There are no membership dues so feel welcome to show up at whatever events you like.

Hey can you drop some Flyers off at Ardmore Companion Animal Hospital?

Good deal, thanks Belinda! I don't know if Ashley was going to be able to get by your vet's office with any flyers before heading out of town. This weekend I am going to put a flyer on tvgpha.org that folks can print and post. Check the site sunday evening and it should be there.

Good luck with the meeting!  It sounds like you all are planning some good and fun things.  I really like that you want to promote what gaited horses can really do.  I hope you have a bunch of people show up.

This sounds great
We live in north central Mississippi and maybe could arrange a clinic sponsored by your group.

Hey everyone, We live about an hr. and half west of Ardmore and we have relatives that live in Huntsville or outside of there I should say. We sent them a e-mail about the meeting and maybe they will get to go.

But if not hopely there will be enough there to get things rolling. There are some great places around here to ride and they are pretty close to our homestead.

Best wishes on getting startedr1.

Well we had about 40 people show up to the new saddle club meeting in Ardmore, it was wonderful meeting all the truly interested horse people in our area. Especially since I am new to Tennessee.

Phil, Ashley and Steve were so cordial and introduced all their friends to us.  What great expectations we have for the coming 2008 season. Trail rides monthly and Shows too.

I am trying to see if we as a group would like to make reservations to be at Faye Whittemore Farms on May 2-4 in Jasper, AL to be on the "America on Horseback's" RFD TV series.  It is a beautiful farm with water falls, nice stalls, clean and they even feed you.  Sorry the TVGPHA.org site isn't fully functional but will be soon please keep checking back for updates.

I would love for you GOG members to meet us there, spaces will be limited so post if you are interested and we will see if we can all get together and do the trails by day and campfire stories by night.

Jill

Hey Free Spirit ... Jasper is only a couple of hours from me.  I will just be getting back from East Fork the weekend before, but may be able to get away again.  Hubby is a non-horse person so I try to stretch these camping trips out so that he doesn't have to fend for himself too many times.  Keeps him more cooperative that way.  But hey .. as the saying goes in the south ... if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.  I'll get on Best of America web and look at the ride.  I would go if I knew I wasn't going to be alone down there.

Probably have some time to make a decision anyway.  Wonder how many camping sites/stalls they actually have?
