Lovely, Break out the sunscreen though, I have a white snip on the nose of one of our horses, and without zinc he gets nasty sunburns, but we live in the south where it's a cooker much of the year.

I hear that sort of thing all the time, but Zippy has never, ever had a hint of sunburn. I think it is a combination of having the forelock for shade and having the toughest, thickest skin/hair/hooves I've personally ever seen. In my personal breeding/training experience, I actually have a personal theory that with the Iceys the pintos and pinks have have tougher skin than the black-skinned ponies...with the dark bays having the worst reactions to skin issues (bugs, sores, etc.). Perhaps it is more a coincidence with those particular breeding lines, but either way...every place I've boarded Zippy expects him to burn and be skin-sensitive, and they are always surprised. Likewise, every farrier expects his hooves to crumble...until they need to sharpen their tools to get through the job! s5 ~Nick
