Hush Hurley, I fear I'll have a solid black horse with white stockings above the knee and a egg sized spot on the underbelly and it will qualify as a spotted horse. Well I want crazy beautiful markings but on a mostly black backgound, you know me , gotta have those lit up animals, but I'll take what I get as long as everything goes textbook.

I feel that my horses have such a good time playing with each other racing through the trees and rearing and wrestling that they don't need me as much as other horses. but don't get me wrong I just spent half the day caring for them. We had a blast of snow yesterday, I think we got almost 2 feet and it is a lot of work getting everything cleaned out. I had them all in the barn getting brushed off and removing iceicles from their manes and jaws and legs. Now we are supposed to get more snow tonight, so I left some of them in. They do have a barn that they go in and out when they want, but it seems like they prefer to be out. I scatter hay through out the woods so they are out of the wind and they have to move around a lot to keep warm. They have so much fur right now the Icelandics especially stay very warm. Oh, yes, I collect horses. My husband would be rolling laughing if he read this thread! It was very easy to do when I had a lesson business, because I could always justify another horse for the business to use. I also had lots of people to ride them and horse-crazy newbies to groom and care for them. Now I just board what's left of my old herd- the ones I sold to students who didn't have anywhere else to keep them- and work with my 3 that I claim for myself right now. Two are broke and one is a yearling, so it's not too bad, although I have a problem focusing on one over the other sometimes. I think it would be easier to have just one, and put all your effort into making him or her the best partner you can. I tried that, but somehow I ended up not having that happen, because I am working with 3, not 1. I can't help it when I see a good deal come along, and I'm always game to ride something new. I just have to police myself and keep the numbers low. As my friend put it, I only have 1 butt, and even though it's big, that's hard to spread over 3 saddles at the same timel1!

OMG, My sister and I surf the horse buying websites too, We can't stay away from them. She's the collector and I go with her when she collectsl1 We've traveled all over Ohio together looking for and buying horses. She truly is a little horse trader. Me on the other hand, I suppose I would be a collector too if I had my own land, but for now helping my sister collect is good enough for me, plus I get to ride her collections too.

*sits down, grabs some donuts and coffee and shares* Hello my name is Jody and I am a horse collector. I have one horse. For a short time I had two horses but sent one to live out his pain filled days on 40 happy acres at a rescue where hopefully he can forget about his pain and just live as a happy horse. I cant afford more than one horse. I have a mortgage and a car payment and two grandbabies and a list of house repairs that impede my collecting every horse I see but at heart I am still a horse collector. On my "bucket list" of horses to own. A true foundation Morgan A Friesien A Gypsy Vanner A Hanovarian A fully trained dressage horse A "been there done that" zero spook trail horse The only horse I never want to own is a sorrel or a brown or basically any horse that can be considered "boring" in color. I love horses with interesting colors and patterns. If I had more than one horse I wouldnt have to harass my one horse with rides every day. I could rotate them so they have days off as on the days I force myself not to ride I have withdrawals. I know its an addiction but it cant be stopped! I'll be back later, I have to go peruse Dreamhorse and get my fix.
