I was in awe after I watched the video. Now, I STAND in respect for your riding capability. I thought your balance was superb. Was this just a demonstration or were you riding in a competition? It really doesn't matter because it was excellent throughout. Has anyone clued LadyFarrier into this one? I'm sure she'd enjoy it, too.

I think I've watched this video about 16 times now, and every time I watch it, I pick up some other small subtle nuance that completely blows me away. Your riding ability is phenomenal. You and your horse ride the way we all aspire to ride, and that is 'as one'. It's pretty evident by watching the video that you have mastered that 'oneness'. I can almost feel the depth of communication between the two of you. The response, the communication back to you from your horse with such lightness in your hands and the subtlety of your cues is what I'm always striving for, and you do it extremely well. And that's what it's all about. A feeling. A feeling of knowing each other. Watching you and your horse, is truly, to coin a very old, but accurate phrase in this case, like watching 'poetry in motion'. Class Act. Classy, classy, classy. Now I'm going to go and watch it again. Might I make a small suggestion? Put this excellent video to music? (your horse resembles my Tango too, right down to the white sock!) I agree with every word that Tangoh so eloquently wrote, except I haven't had the chance to view it as many times, YET! I also wondered the same thing as Bullwinkle, as I was sure your saddle was opposite to what I was accustomed to seeing, so thanks, Bullwinkle for asking the question for me!! And thank you for taking the extra effort to getting that video up for all of us to drool over! (and also to you, Whatta, for the extra help And as a side note, I'd say this gal is riding indeed and not along for the trip! Last edited on Tue Dec 11th, 2007 01:50 pm by ridingintherain |

I'll probably watch this video every day for two weeks. I was blown away. Great balance. The two of you went over the jump so effortlessly. Do you always ride side saddle?

What a beautiful video. The two of you were like one movement. I agree with Aurora, I wouldn't want to do that on a trotter. It was so smooth and fluid. Thanks for sharing with us. Kim ![]()

I rode sidesaddle exclusively from the time I purchased the saddle in 2000 until about a year ago, because for long trail rides it was simply a more comfortable way to ride with my prosthesis. However, the saddle doesn't fit my horse quite right, (pinches one side of his withers) which really bothers me. Then last summer I was able to work with my prosthetist and take advantage of some new high tech designs and materials that have made riding astride more comfortable than with the old prosthesis, so now I do most of my riding astride. Riding astride has some definite advantages when trail riding, especially being easier to mount (no gentleman required to give me a boost) and a lighter saddle. I did use the sidesaddle for some mounted shooting competitions last summer, where "dressing the part" is half the fun!

Hi, I had never thought about riding side saddle before, but after watching your video I see you use hand cues. I would think the horse has to go through quite a bit of special training to ride side saddle as opposed to straddling the horse? Jim
