Hi all, I was at a silent auction last night and bought a Brenda Imus saddle there.  Hopefully I don't insult anyone here, but I'd never heard of a Brenda Imus before so I looked it up on google when I got home - very interesting.  At the auction, there was no information given about the saddle.  I see that under the flap on the near side it is stamped "100", and then below it "17" and then "S".  It is a black saddle.  Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean?  It looks like a very nice saddle and I'm looking forward to checking it out on my horses - just needing to buy a girth.  Thanks for any info on the numbers.

Congrats on getting one of the best made saddles on the market today - not only for gaited horses but for any horse that needs the freedom the 4-Beat brings. The 100 was an inventory number, the 17 is seat size and the S is standard tree. If you go to the home page, there will be a description of how that impacts fit on your horse. While the 4-Beat is the gold standard for gaited horses, it seems to work well on other horses, too. You can send photos (angles are on the home page also) to Jake and he will determine if the standard will fit your horse.

Please share about your horse with us here. We love photos and welcome from south central Idaho.

Thank you for all the info!!  I'll check out the home page, too, and look at the saddle fit, take some pictures this week and see what Jake thinks.  The saddle seemed just a little large for me, I think I really need a 15 to 15 1/2, and I was hoping it was a wide tree, but from the info you gave, it's a standard.  I think I'll be able to ride ok in it though, as long as it fits my horses, they are pretty wide.  The price was so good that I figured I couldn't go wrong with the saddle - it had only been used twice and sold for $500, so even if I have to put it on Craig's list and buy one the right size I should come out well on it.  I normally wouldn't do something so impulsive without fitting it to my horse, but the saddle looked like it was such quality that it was certainly worth the bid price.  I also was really attracted to the way the stirrups are so free swinging and the greater room through the shoulders, and I really like the rigging.  I've been looking at buying a gaited horse saddle and couldn't believe there was one at the fundraiser to bid on.  Anyway, I raise Thoroughbreds and have been involved in racing them. I've been practicing what is called "backyard racehorse", the horses live at home and get hauled to the track for training, works and races.  I've been needing a saddle to exercise them on trails that would give me something a little more secure without the tree getting in the way of their shoulder action.  It looks like I've found the answer!  Thanks so much for welcoming me aboard! :D

If it fits your horses, then you can use a fleece seat cover to fill in for your seat size so it isn't so sloppy for you - that seems to have worked for others. You'll love the comfort it provides you especially for trail work - not only because of the soft, comfortable seat but because of the position it puts you in for equitation - much more natural like a bareback rider. If you use it, make sure you position it correctly for the maximum weight carrying capability for your horse (centered up over withers with the cinch a few inches back of the legs.

That is a fantastic price - unbelievable really. I would have bought it for that price even though I have 2 already. Congrats. Let us know how it works out for you and your horses.

Hello and welcome!  Lucky you to have a Imus 4beat saddle at an unbelivable price.  You will enjoy it, yes, it is quality made.    Sometimes we think our horses need a wide tree, but some really need just the standard.  Hope yours fits your horse.  Post some pictures, we would love to see your horses.
