Buying a very quiet little horse from Adams Horse and Mule. Should have her by the end of the month.

Coming from a dressage background - but have been injured for the last several years (not horse related) and have lost all of my confidence. Plus I'm moving to western washington next year and want to be able to go out and enjoy the scenery.

Figure that by then I'll be able to do more than sit on the horse and be scared!

Looking forward to talking to you guys more!

So far the horse looks to have a really good walk - she overstrides even just schlepping on a loose rein, and a saddle rack on a loose rein.

Welcome and can't wait to see what beauty you have purchased.

Figure that by then I'll be able to do more than sit on the horse and be scared!

That is such a terrible feeling to, wanting to ride soo bad but as you get older this thought seems to be the foremost thing in your head.

Good luck and post pictures as soon as you can !

So since she's officially sold I figured I could post a pic.

VERY quiet mare, and looks like an old cartoon horse when you totally drop the reins. Puts her head down to her knees and plods. And can get on from either side and off of anything.

I told my husband that she's the wrong sex, wrong color, wrong build, and wrong gait - she must be perfect!

I don't know what you're talking about! Buckskins are THE most beautiful horses in the world, and mares can be the sweetest creatures & best companions God ever made. Add gait to that and you have just aquired the life of a Queen. Congratulations, she is gorgeous!

She has a nice build, and what gait does she perform?

She's actually a dark rose grey at this point....maybe a bay going grey?

She does a saddle rack. And has a swinging enuf walk that I think she'll have a really nice flat walk, too.

My last 2 horses were VERY baroque looking....but sadly, not beginner friendly or stress friendly....And I'm back to being a stressed beginner! l1

I think she's beautiful - love the unusual color and you can't beat a nice rack for a gait!  Think you have chosen extremely well!  Congratulations!

What's her name?

I think she is a beauty!  My son has an Appaloosa that is rose gray.  He is 24 now and slightly faded but still sparkles in the summer.  Shimmer just might stick with her.  Congratulations! One more week to go!

BEAUTIFUL!!! Have you gotten her yet? How's it going? I was really scared for awhile after I got bucked off two times. I had to take my old timer out of retirement to get my nerve back and then got my good girl Sadie. I've had her two years and now we are a pair!! It took some time and despooking and learning to trust but I love riding again!!      LezleJ

Haven't gotten her yet... :(

I had asked that they hold her a couple weeks because the smoke here was so bad...and by the time I was ready to ship they'd just had a big sale in Keenland and all the shippers were booked up for 2 weeks.

They are supposed to pick her up on Friday... b1

Then I'm going to need de-spooking for me....::)

Shimmer got here today! (and of course I have to be on the other side of town all week - grrrrr!:()

She is much, much prettier and  than she looked in the photos on AHMCs website - and is very nicely built as well. Plus she has SERIOUS hair! I had no idea that mountain horses had hair like that! 1l

She is also very petite in build - which should make my hip happy!

She is so far very quiet except for not particularly liking the 4 wheeler....but she isnt even that bad about it. Just wants to stay at a safe distance - she never scooted more than 5 or 10 feet away from it.

The Equine Express guys were VERY complimentary of how she hauled.

Had to go on the road past an apartment complex where a sports car was gunning the engine on the way in to get into the property and was fine. Was very good being cross-tied and getting a bath.

We are going to have a kid get on her tomorrow or Tuesday....just 'cause kids are better at that than us old farts!

Am probably going to have to have said kid ride her for a little while for me. I think that my confidence is so shot that I'm going to probably have to do the
'groom till you're bored doing that, then tack up till you're bored doing that, then just sit on the horse and dont go anywhere till you're bored doing THAT - THEN walk around some' thing...f1

And DANG those little guys have a big walk!!!!!
