Hey all,

Sorry that I haven't been responding to your posts. It has been just frantic around here. Niece's wedding, horrible cold, went to pick up Amos a week early. Ya da, ya da...

The pictures are an absolute hoot. Thanks for putting those up Whatta. I love the forest potty. Where is the handle located?

Unfortunately this is short.  I am going to take some more meds and  lay down awhile.

All the advise from the members has been great. I highly recommend at least 3 riding sessions with your trainer to learn how your horse has been trained, so the two of you have clear communication. Also, it would be very benificial for you to get the feel of your horses gait for when you get home so you can recognise the correct foot pattern when she does it.

Riding with other gaited riders would be great. Horse people always are very helpful towards one another!

Keep in mind, also, that Brenda has three Level 2 Trainers now that can travel to you if you were to get a group of riders together that would be interested in a GOG clinic. Chris and Chrystal and myself all just spent another week with Brenda doing clinics in Missouri and we all had a great time with the horses and riders!

By the way, I am a Rocky owner , also, and am pleased to see how many Rocky owners are on the MB. You are going to love thsi breed of horses... they are truely lovable! Not to mention beautiful!!

Hey, Angelic - Just sent you an email!  That Cowboy is one handsome horse and the baby chocolate is welcome to come to my place!

Had a great ride today with my riding buddy (pictured in above post with the "potty chair" with her daughter).  By the way, that pic was taken with my enV phone camera!

Sherry, if you are interested in "swimming" lessons during trail riding, I'm the person to give them!  l1  Though today Savvy wasn't interested - she was too busy being in heat and winked and squirted her way through the creek crossings.

By the way, had a great weekend - my daughter graduated from high school as one of the class valedictorians - gave a speech with included a letter she wrote to me - had a lot of the mom's there in tears - hubby said he was a little "misty" too!:)

Hey, Whatta, there's no one stopping you from coming up this way!!!!  I'll loan you Savvy, and I'll ride Rascal!

My horses (Rockies) live in Germantown.  There are a lot of gaited riders in the area.  I'm not that great of rider myself and have my own horror story of sending my horse to a trainer.  I'm not riding much because my mare just had a beautiful little chocolate colt and my gelding just isn't ready for the trails yet.
May I ask who the trainer is that is working with your horse? Where is he located?

Cathy

Well...I should have read the rest of the post. It seems that you already met Tailgaitin and DebbieH. Happy Trails :-)

Hi Debbie! Hi Sherry!

Sherry, you are going to love riding with Tailgaitin and Deb. I'm so jealous. I've only known them via cyberspace but I honestly feel like they are very nice and fun gals. I wanna go. p1

Debbie would love for me to share (again) the pic of TG dumping water outta her boots, cell phone, helmet, saddle . . . she's a water hog.

But I want to share this one just so you'll know that everything you might possibly need while trail riding can be found when you ride with these gals. Just bring your own paper. tu1

Sherry,

I'll answer for Tailgaitin!  I think you should be worried!  I made Deanna laugh so hard that she almost fell off...good thing she wasn't in the creek yet.  That is usually where she likes to take a dip whenever she can!  Ain't that right, Whattarack?

Whatta, can you please post the nice pic you have of Tailgaitin so Sherry can see for herself??

Debbie

Tailgaitin,

That makes me wonder; who should be worried, me, or the rest of your group?

Things that make you go HUMMM!

Hope you had a good week-end

Sherry

Okay, I'm hopping in here since Savvy and I were mentioned.l1

Sherry, we can't wait to get you on the trails!  Sycamore is a great place to ride for a couple of water crossing, prairie areas, woods, slight hills, some mud, etc.

We won't work on any gaiting. . .let's get your guy used to going at a walk so he can smell the "proverbial roses" on the trail.  The gaiting can come later as you get use to each other!

Yap later!

Hi DebbieH.

It is so nice to hear from you. TailgaitinDeanna has told me about some of the  adventures you two have had on the trails, including the one you went on the other day. Sounded like lots of fun.

There are a bunch of great people on this MB; I don't know of many places where people are so willing to invite a "newbie"  into their circle with such warmth. It really does renew the feeling of community. My thanks to you and Deanna.

We hope to pick up Amos on the 12th of June, so maybe we can all get together that following week-end for a ride??????? I will be in touch later on.

I look forward to meeting you, Deanna and the rest of the group.

See you soon

Sherry

Sherry,

Last summer, I was fortunate enough to trail ride about once a week with Tailgaitin (Deanna).  I believe that you have been in touch with her.  Come join us this summer!  My horse just turned 5 and he learned bunches last summer out on the trail.  Your horse will learn quickly too.  My horse, Patches, had water issues last year....not anymore!  By the end of the summer, he was jumping into the creek and finding the water great fun.  Deanna was very patient with us.  We both will be very patient with you and your young one!

We had our first ride together yesterday.  We had a blast and the horses did great!

Come join the fun!

Debbie

I too have Picasso on my computer but there was no size editing on it that I could find. My son looked and he did not see anything either. You would think they would make it more simple.  If you find anything that way let me know. ;)

Whatta,

I run Picassa on my computer, it does allow for many editing features.  I will try your instructions thru that program and see if I can download my pictures.

Thanks to you also SlipS.

photobucket in on the internet.  Go to photobucket.com.

Whatta, my computer does not have a photoshop, it will take them to paintbrush for resizing and I have not been able to figure out how to do it that way. I plan on asking my son, the next time he stops by to show me if there is an easier way and I will let you know.

If you open your pics (in photoshop for example) and resize them to a 5 x 7 or smaller and save the new size, they will usually post with no problem.

Thank you Slipslider,

Is Photobucket on the GOG site or is that a program on your computer?
When I try to download a picture to the mb, it comes back stating the attachment is too large.
I hate to be so computer illiterate.

AnnMarie,
I was excited to see you are from Eustis Fl.  I live in Sorrento.  I have a gaited horse that paces and am struggling to correct the problem.  Can you give me the name of the trainer that helped you.
I am new to this wonderful website, in case I can't find this area again please reply to my email.  Myraleh@comcast.net

Thanks!!!
Myra

I am sure someone else may have a better suggestion for posting pictures. It took me a half a day to figure out how to do it on my computer. But here is how I got it to work. I downloaded my pictures onto my computer, then went to photobucket and loaded the pictures I wanted to post on there. Then click on edit above the pictures on photobucket. Click on resize and there will be list on the resize button and I clicked messageboard size. Then save.  I then right click on the picture and copy it. Then I am able to paste it to the reply board on this message board. This is probably the long way to do it, but it works for me. I could not figure out any other way. There are older replies on how to do this, but they changed photobucket and I was not able to do it the way it was originally recommended. Someone else suggested resizing it on your computer, but my computer goes to paintbrush and trying to resize there and post did not work for me.
